Job Title: Pulmonologist
Location: Surulere, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Reports to: Department Head, Medical Director, or Chief of Pulmonology
Working schedule: Mondays to Fridays 9am-5pm and alternate weekends
Job Summary
Diagnose and treat disorders and diseases of the lungs, respiratory system, and sleep disorders, providing high-quality patient care and promoting respiratory health.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Evaluation: Evaluate patients with respiratory symptoms, performing physical exams, reviewing medical histories, and ordering diagnostic tests.
Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnose respiratory conditions, developing and implementing treatment plans, including medications, therapies, and lifestyle modifications.
Procedures: Perform procedures, such as bronchoscopies, lung biopsies, and sleep studies.
Sleep Medicine: Diagnose and treat sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, insomnia, and restless leg syndrome.
Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications.
Collaboration with Other Healthcare Professionals: Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including primary care physicians, thoracic surgeons, and other specialists, to provide comprehensive care.
Research and Staying Current: Stay current with the latest advances in pulmonology, participating in research studies, attending conferences, and reading industry publications.
Education and Qualifications
Medical Degree: Medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) from an accredited medical school.
Residency and Fellowship: Completion of a residency program in internal medicine and a fellowship program in pulmonology.
Licensure and Certification: Licensure to practice medicine in the state and certification by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) in pulmonology.
Experience: 2+ years of experience in pulmonology, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.

Emotional Intelligence and Empathy: High level of emotional intelligence and empathy, with the ability to provide compassionate care to patients and their families.
Staying Current with Medical Advances: Commitment to staying current with the latest advances in pulmonology, including new technologies, treatments, and research findings.
