Job Description
We are owners of a Radio Station in the outskirt of Lagos State, Nigeria with growth potentials in other geo-political zones requires the services of a General Manager with cognate experience.
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead their Radio Station to success.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve the Radio station's goals and objectives, including increasing audience reach, revenue generation and brand visibility.
Manage the station's programming schedule, ensuring a diverse and engaging mix of content that appeals to our target audience. Ensure that content adheres to station guidelines, industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Drive sales initiatives to maximize advertising revenue and sponsorships, working closely with the sales team to identify opportunities and meet revenue targets.
Develop and execute marketing and promotional campaigns to build brand awareness and attract new listeners, leveraging both traditional and digital channels.
Recruit, train, and supervise staff members, providing leadership and guidance to ensure a high level of performance and teamwork. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to ensure individual and team growth.
Develop and manage the station's budget, monitor financial performance, and implement cost-saving measures to ensure profitability. Explore revenue-generating opportunities such as advertising, sponsorships and partnerships.
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, including Nigeria Broadcasting Commission (NBC) regulations and licensing requirements.
Foster positive relationships with the local community, stakeholders and industry partners, representing the station at events and participating in community outreach activities.
Oversee technical operations, including broadcast equipment maintenance, stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to innovate and enhance the station's operations and offerings.
Handle any emergencies or crises that may arise, implementing appropriate protocols and communication strategies to mitigate risks and maintain the station's reputation.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcasting, Communications, Business Administration or a related field. Master’s Degree and professional certifications in Radio management or a related field would also be an advantage.
Previous experience in radio station management or a similar leadership role, with a proven track record of success in driving audience growth, revenue generation and operational excellence with over five years industry experience.
Strong leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve goals and deliver results.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and negotiate effectively with clients, staff and stakeholders.
In-depth knowledge of the radio broadcasting industry, including programming trends, advertising sales strategies and regulatory requirements.
Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
Experience with budget management and financial analysis plus strong problem-solving abilities and conflict resolution skills
Experience with digital media and social media platforms and familiarity with radio automation systems and software.
