The Federal University of Education, Kontagora came into being following the release of the official gazette on the upgrade of the Federal College of Education, Kontagora to Federal University of Education, Kontagora which act No.5 of 2021 was signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR on the 31 December, 2021. Evolving from the defunct Federal College of Education, Kontagora which was established in September, 1978 as Federal Advanced Teachers College (FATC), the Institution has offered NCE Programmes since inception and Degree Programmes in affiliation with the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria since 2009. The University presently comprises five (5) Academic faculties and is equipped with the state-of-art facilities. The University is poised to address Nigeria's perennial shortage of qualified teachers and envisions to becoming centre of academic excellence in education.

Job Summary
The University Librarian is a Principal Officer and Head of the University's Library and shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the overall administration of the University Library, its branches and extensions and for providing library services for the entire University community.
Responsibilities
The candidate is expected to:
Ensure that students and staff have essential library services including reference assistance, library materials, bibliography instruction, interlibrary loan and document delivery, as well as access to reserve materials;
Prepare Library budgets;
Serve as primary contact at the library for students and staff,
Design and maintain access to E-library web pages, databases and user interfaces;
Assist staff with designing course-specific web pages and providing intellectual property rights;
Be in excellent physical and mental health.
Requirements
The candidate for the post of University Librarian must possess a minimum of second-class lower degree, MLS and Ph.D. from a recognized University.
The candidate is also expected to:
Not be below the rank of Deputy Librarian, who has spent at least four (4) years on the post;
Not be above fifty-nine (59) years of age at the time of taking up the appointment.
Have a considerable number of scholarly publications in reputable journals;
Be registered with Teachers' Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

Be computer literate and proficient in relevant computer applications as applicable to the running of complex and modern University Library.
Terms and Condition of Service Applicable to the post
The University Librarian shall hold office for a single term of Five (5) years only on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.
The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the post of Librarian in all Federal Universities in Nigeria and as may be determined from time to time by the Federal Government/Governing Council of the University.
