As our Rubber Plantation Expert at our 20,000-hectare farm located in Ore, Ondo State, you’ll play an important role in driving operational excellence and achieving ambitious goals.
As our Rubber Plantation Expert, your main responsibility would be to oversee the cultivation and management of rubber trees.
This includes tasks like planting, pruning, fertilizing, and harvesting rubber latex.
You’ll also need to monitor and control pests and diseases, ensure proper irrigation, and maintain the overall health of the plantation.
It’s a hands-on role that requires knowledge of rubber tree cultivation techniques and a passion for agriculture while ensuring environmental responsibility and social impact.
What You’ll Do
Cultivation and Management: Oversee the planting, maintenance, and growth of rubber trees on the plantation.
Pruning and Fertilizing: Perform regular pruning to promote healthy growth and apply appropriate fertilizers to ensure optimal nutrition for the trees.
Harvesting and Processing: Coordinate the harvesting of rubber latex and oversee its processing to ensure high-quality production.
Pest and Disease Control: Monitor and implement measures to control pests and diseases that may affect the rubber trees.
Irrigation and Water Management: Ensure proper irrigation systems are in place and manage water resources efficiently to support healthy tree growth.
Supervision and Training: Train and supervise plantation workers, providing guidance and support to ensure tasks are performed effectively.
Health and Safety: Maintain a safe working environment, adhere to health and safety regulations, and promote best practices among the plantation staff.
Who You Are
A Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field is often preferred (a master’s degree in this field is an added advantage).
5+ Previous experience in rubber tree cultivation or plantation management is highly valued.
Familiarity with rubber tree varieties, cultivation techniques, and best practices is essential.
Ability to identify and address issues related to pests, diseases, and soil conditions.
The role may involve working outdoors, performing manual labor, and being able to withstand the demands of plantation work.
Effective communication with workers, colleagues, and stakeholders is important.
Experience in supervising and training plantation workers is beneficial.
Being meticulous in monitoring tree health, implementing proper pruning techniques, and ensuring quality control during harvesting and processing.
Ability to adapt to changing weather conditions, market demands, and industry trends.
