Job Title: Assistant Feed mill Officer

Job Summary
The Feed mill Officer is responsible for overseeing feed production, ensuring quality control, managing raw materials, and maintaining equipment efficiency. The role involves implementing best practices in feed formulation, adhering to safety standards, and ensuring smooth feed mill operations to support the farm's livestock production.
Key Responsibilities
Feed Production & Processing:
Supervise the mixing, grinding, and pelleting of feed ingredients to produce high-quality feed for livestock.
Ensure efficient operation of feed processing equipment to meet production targets.
Adjust feed formulations as per nutritionist recommendations and company guidelines.
Monitor the entire production cycle to minimize waste and maximize output.
Quality Control & Assurance:
Ensure feed meets nutritional, safety, and regulatory standards.
Maintain proper documentation of quality control checks and corrective actions.
Identify and address any inconsistencies or issues in feed composition.
Raw Material & Inventory Management:
Manage procurement, storage, and usage of feed ingredients such as maize, soybean meal, and additives.
Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment of raw materials.
Prevent contamination and spoilage through proper storage and handling practices.
Maintain accurate records of inventory, raw material usage, and production output.
Equipment & Facility Maintenance:
Oversee routine maintenance of feed mill machinery and troubleshoot minor technical issues.
Report any equipment malfunctions to the maintenance team for prompt resolution.
Ensure cleanliness and hygiene within the feed mill facility.
Implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
Compliance & Safety:
Enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations within the feed mill.
Ensure compliance with feed safety regulations, industry best practices, and company policies.
Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and biosecurity protocols.
Train staff on safety procedures and best practices in feed mill operations.
Reporting & Documentation:
Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly records of feed production, raw material usage, and inventory.
Prepare reports on feed quality, operational efficiency, and cost analysis.
Provide data for budget planning and cost control measures.
Recommend process improvements to enhance productivity and profitability.
Key Requirements
Education & Experience:
B.Sc./HND in Animal Science, Animal Nutrition, Agricultural Science, Feed Technology, or a related field.
2–5 years of experience in feed mill operations or animal nutrition.
Knowledge of feed formulation, feed processing machinery, and quality control.
Experience in livestock farming operations is an added advantage.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of animal nutrition and feed ingredients.
Ability to operate, troubleshoot, and maintain feed mill equipment.
Knowledge of feed safety regulations, HACCP, and GMP standards.
Good analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent record-keeping and reporting abilities.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting purposes.
Work Environment:
Work is conducted in a feed mill facility, which may involve exposure to dust, noise, and heavy machinery.
Requires physical stamina and the ability to lift or operate heavy equipment.
May involve shift work, weekend duties, or emergency call-outs.
Salary
N150,000 - N200,000 / month.
