Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented NYSC/Trainee Associate to join its legal team.
This role is designed for recent law graduates or entry-level legal professionals who are eager to gain hands-on experience in corporate, commercial, and litigation law.
The Legal Trainee Associate will assist senior lawyers with legal research, drafting, contract review, case preparation, and client advisory services while developing essential legal skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
As NYSC/Trainee Associate, your work will include:
Legal Research & Documentation:
Conduct thorough legal research on case laws, statutes, regulations, and precedents to support ongoing cases and advisory matters.
Prepare legal memoranda, case summaries, and reports for internal use and client briefings.
Assist in drafting and reviewing contracts, agreements, pleadings, and other legal documents.
Litigation & Dispute Resolution:
Assist in preparing legal arguments, pleadings, and motions for litigation cases.
Attend court proceedings, arbitrations, mediations, and client meetings with senior lawyers.
Organize and maintain case files, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with court procedures.
Corporate & Commercial Law Support:
Assist in reviewing and drafting corporate documents such as shareholders’ agreements, board resolutions, and regulatory filings.
Support due diligence processes for mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.
Help ensure compliance with local and international laws and regulations.
Client Advisory & Communication:
Engage with clients under supervision to gather information, clarify legal issues, and provide preliminary legal opinions.
Prepare legal correspondence and communicate with regulatory bodies and stakeholders on behalf of the firm.
Regulatory & Compliance Assistance:
Monitor and analyze changes in legal and regulatory frameworks that may impact the firm's clients.
Assist in drafting legal compliance policies and reports for clients.
Support internal compliance processes and ensure adherence to professional legal standards.
Qualifications & Skills
Educational & Professional Requirements:
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from a recognized university.
Completion of the Nigerian Law School & admission to the Nigerian Bar is mandatory
Must be currently undergoing NYSC Programme or have recently completed same.
A minimum of a Second Class Upper Degree from the Nigerian Law School and/or the University is preferable but the client will consider not less than a second-class lower degree, with a strong CGPA and demonstrable research/work experience
Technical Skills:
Strong legal research and analytical skills.
Excellent drafting, writing, and verbal communication skills.
Basic understanding of litigation procedures and corporate law principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal research tools
Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Salary
N200,000 per month.
