Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor and Procurement Specialist to join our dynamic team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quantity surveying, procurement processes, and contract management within the construction industry.
This role requires a detail-oriented professional who is capable of managing project costs effectively while ensuring procurement efficiency.
Responsibilities
Cost Management:
Prepare and evaluate cost estimates, budgets, and financial forecasts for various projects.
Monitor project expenditures and ensure compliance with budgeting guidelines.
Conduct cost analysis, reporting, and financial assessments to optimize project profitability.
Procurement:
Develop and implement procurement strategies to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials and services.
Evaluate and select suppliers and subcontractors, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships.
Oversee the procurement process, including issuing requests for proposals (RFPs) and invitations to tender.
Contract Management:
Prepare and review contracts ensuring they comply with company policies and legal regulations.
Manage contract negotiations and ensure that terms are adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.
Monitor progress and manage variations and claims to minimize risk.
Reporting and Analysis:
Produce regular reports on project costs, procurement activity, and budget forecasting.
Analyze financial data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Provide insights to senior management for informed decision-making.
Collaboration:
Work closely with project managers, engineers, and financial teams to ensure alignment on project goals.
Liaise with stakeholders to provide updates on project costs and procurement activities.
Facilitate workshops and meetings to discuss budgetary concerns and procurement strategies.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure all procurement activities comply with company standards and industry regulations.
Stay updated with relevant laws and guidelines that affect the procurement and construction industry.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Cost Accuracy: Percentage deviation between estimated and actual costs should not exceed X%.
Procurement Efficiency: Reduction in procurement lead times measured by average time taken from RFP to contract award should decrease by X%.
Contract Management: Number of contractual disputes or claims arising from projects should not exceed X% of total contracts managed.
Budget Adherence: Percentage of projects completed within the approved budget should meet or exceed X%.
Supplier Performance: Percentage of suppliers meeting quality and delivery standards should be maintained at X%.
Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (essential).
Professional qualifications (e.g., MRICS or equivalent) are highly desirable.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in quantity surveying and procurement within the construction industry.
Proven track record of successful project cost management and procurement.
Experience in managing contracts and vendor relationships.
Competencies:
Strong analytical and numerical skills.
Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
Proficient in cost estimation and quantity surveying software.
Solid understanding of construction processes and project lifecycle.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
