Sokoto State University, established in 2009, is a conventional degree awarding Institution whose motto “It All Begins Here" depicts the historic leadership of its locale in the promotion of knowledge and scholarship. In keeping with the provision of the Sokoto State University Law (2009), as amended, the Governing Council invites applications from suitably qualified academics with cognate experience in University teaching and administration to fill the position below:
Job Title: Chief Security Coordinator
Location: Sokoto
Job Description
The Chief Security Coordinator is the Head of the Security Department.
He/she is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for running the security affairs of the University.
He/she performs such other functions as prescribed by the University Schedules of Duty and other extant regulations.
Requirements
Candidates seeking to apply for the post of Chief Security Coordinator must strictly satisfy the following conditions:
He/she must possess a good B.Sc. Degree or any other equivalent degree from a recognized institution, plus NYSC Discharged Certificate or evidence of exemption.
The candidate must be proficient in the use of Information and Communication Technology.
The candidate must have at least 10 years of security background, having previously served in a security or law enforcement agency and risen to the rank of Captain in the Nigerian Army or an equivalent position.
He/she must also show evidence of consummate management and leadership passion and drive in previous positions and must possess excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
He/she must exhibit the ability to be a team leader with clear mentorship skills and should not be older than sixty (60) years.
He/she must have strong physical and mental ability to discharge his duties.
He/she must possess personal integrity, demonstrate transparency in private and public life, and be able to command respect and loyalty from staff, students, and other members of the University.
The Tenure:
The Chief Security Coordinator shall hold office for a term of two (2) years.
Remuneration and Conditions of Service
The remuneration and conditions of service for the posts shall be as prescribed by the extant laws of the University and as may be determined by the government and the Governing Council from time to time.

Each candidate must have three (3) referees who should be in a position to attest to the candidate's claim to high academic standard, managerial capacity and moral uprightness.
