Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Road Construction Technician with extensive experience in earthwork, earth-moving equipment, drainage works, and pavement construction.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and executing road construction activities, ensuring quality standards, safety compliance, and timely project completion.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage earthmoving operations, including excavation, grading, and compaction, ensuring adherence to project specifications.
Evaluate soil conditions and recommend suitable ground stabilization methods for optimal structural integrity.
Supervise the execution of cut-and-fill activities, ensuring precision and compliance with engineering requirements.
Operate and maintain heavy construction machinery, including bulldozers, excavators, graders, and compactors, for efficient site development.
Conduct routine inspections of construction equipment to identify maintenance needs, prevent breakdowns, and ensure operational efficiency.
Ensure accurate laying and compaction of asphalt, concrete, or other pavement materials to achieve durability and structural stability.
Inspect road alignment, surface smoothness, and thickness to verify compliance with technical specifications and quality standards.
Perform regular site inspections to ensure strict adherence to engineering designs, safety protocols, and construction best practices.
Identify and resolve construction issues, recommending appropriate corrective actions where necessary.
Enforce workplace safety regulations and ensure the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all personnel.
Monitor construction activities to minimize environmental impact and ensure compliance with relevant environmental and regulatory guidelines.
Maintain detailed records of site activities, including material usage, machinery performance, and construction progress.
Prepare and submit comprehensive daily progress reports to the project management team, providing insights into work completed, challenges encountered, and recommended solutions.
And any other responsibility as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
HND/Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related field.
Minimum of 10-15 years experience in road construction, with expertise in earthwork, drainage systems, and pavement construction.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction blueprints and specifications.
Hands-on experience with earth-moving equipment and construction materials.
Strong understanding of safety protocols and quality control in road construction.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
