CcHUB is Nigeria’s first open living lab and pre-incubation space being designed to be a multi-functional, multi-purpose space where work to catalyze creative social tech ventures take place. The HUB is a place for technologists, social entrepreneurs, government, tech companies, impact investors and hackers in and around Lagos to co-create new solutions to the many social problems in Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Gender Manager

Location: Herbert Macaulay way, Lagos

Job Purpose

  • We are seeking a skilled and passionate Gender Manager to lead and support the integration of gender equality into all aspects of the organization’s work.
  • Reporting to the Safeguarding, Gender, and Child Protection Specialist, the Gender Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring that gender considerations are effectively mainstreamed across CcHUB's diverse portfolio of projects and practices, including EdTech, Design for Health, Research, Startup Support, Design Lab, Community support, Admin Team, and Learning Science among all other CcHUB work.
  • This role will also collaborate closely with the DEI Manager to ensure an intersectional approach to safeguarding and gender equity across CcHUB's operations in Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda, Namibia, and other areas.
  • The Gender Manager will be responsible for providing technical support, conducting gender audits, contributing to gender-responsive proposal development, and promoting CcHUB's thought leadership in gender mainstreaming within the tech and innovation ecosystem.

Duties and Responsibilities
Gender Mainstreaming Across CcHUB Programs:

  • Ensure that gender-sensitive approaches are integrated into the design, implementation, and evaluation of all CcHUB's programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with program teams to conduct gender analysis, ensuring that the specific needs and priorities of all genders are considered and addressed.
  • Work closely with the Safeguarding, Gender, and Child Protection Specialist to align gender mainstreaming efforts with safeguarding standards, ensuring that all interventions are protective and inclusive.
  • Support gender-sensitive monitoring and evaluation (M&E) processes to track the effectiveness of gender interventions and identify areas for improvement.

Intersectionality in Gender and Safeguarding:

  • Collaborate with the DEI Manager to ensure an intersectional approach to gender and safeguarding across all CcHUB practices and units.
  • Ensure that gender mainstreaming efforts account for the intersection of other identities, such as age, disability, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status, to address multiple and overlapping vulnerabilities.
  • Provide training and technical support to internal teams on the intersectionality approach and how it enhances gender equity and safeguarding across CcHUB's operations.

Gender Audits and Action Plans:

  • Lead the planning and execution of gender audits across CcHUB's programs and operations to assess the level of gender sensitivity and inclusivity in existing policies and practices.
  • Develop and implement action plans based on gender audit findings to improve gender equity across programs, operations, and internal processes.
  • Regularly review and update gender policies and practices in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment with evolving gender norms, standards, and best practices.

Gender-Responsive Proposal Development:

  • Provide technical support to teams in the development of gender-responsive proposals, ensuring that project designs address gender inequalities and promote women’s empowerment.
  • Review program proposals and budgets to ensure that adequate resources are allocated for gender mainstreaming activities and gender-specific interventions.
  • Collaborate with the Safeguarding, Gender, and Child Protection Specialist and other team members to ensure that all proposals integrate safeguarding and gender-sensitive approaches.

Capacity Building and Training:

  • Design and deliver gender-sensitive training and capacity-building workshops for CcHUB staff, partners, and stakeholders to strengthen their understanding and application of gender equity principles.
  • Provide ongoing mentorship and technical guidance to program teams on gender mainstreaming strategies, ensuring that gender considerations are built into project planning and execution.
  • Create gender-responsive toolkits, guidelines, and resources for internal and external use, helping to raise awareness and build capacity around gender issues.

Thought Leadership and Advocacy:

  • Contribute to CcHUB's growing role as a thought leader on gender mainstreaming within the tech and innovation ecosystem in Africa.
  • Develop and disseminate case studies, articles, and other knowledge products that showcase CcHUB's gender mainstreaming efforts and impact.
  • Represent CcHUB in external forums, conferences, and networks focused on gender equity, innovation, and technology, sharing lessons learned and promoting best practices in gender mainstreaming.
  • Advocate for gender-sensitive policies and practices within the broader tech and innovation ecosystem, contributing to regional and global gender equity dialogues.

Partnerships and Collaboration:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, donors, civil society organizations, and private sector partners, to promote gender equity and safeguarding in all partnerships.
  • Work closely with local and international partners to co-create gender-sensitive initiatives and ensure that CcHUB's gender mainstreaming approach is consistent with partner expectations and global best practices.
  • Support joint advocacy efforts and partnerships aimed at promoting gender-responsive innovation and tech solutions across Africa.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in gender equity, women’s empowerment, gender mainstreaming, or a related field, with a strong focus on Africa.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating gender-sensitive programs and projects, preferably within the technology, innovation, or development sectors.
  • Proven expertise in conducting gender audits, gender analysis, and developing gender-responsive interventions and action plans.
  • Strong understanding of intersectionality and its application in safeguarding, particularly in relation to gender, disability, race, age, and socio-economic status.
  • Experience in capacity building and delivering training on gender equity, gender mainstreaming, and safeguarding to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent communication and partnership-building skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal teams, partners, donors, and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with the gender and safeguarding frameworks, laws, and policies in African countries, particularly Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda, and Namibia.

 Skills and Attributes:

  • A proven track record of advancing gender equity in diverse, multicultural environments.
  • Experience in writing gender-responsive project proposals and developing advocacy materials.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
