Job Summary
This role provides the linkage and understanding of reservoir management, production optimization and initiatives within the subsurface and the surface production disciplines to understand the happenings down-hole and their relation to surface well behaviours, beyond the process separators
Key Responsibilities
Production Optimization:
Monitor and analyze well and field performance, implementing corrective actions to optimize production rates and minimize downtime.
Use advanced techniques such as nodal analysis, decline curve analysis, and pressure transient testing to optimize well performance and enhance reservoir recovery.
Recommend and oversee the implementation of good interventions, workovers, and production enhancements (e.g., stimulation, acidizing, or sand control).
Well and Reservoir Management:
Collaborate with reservoir engineers to interpret reservoir performance and integrate findings into well development strategies.
Assess well data to monitor reservoir health, identify production trends, and develop future production forecasts.
Contribute to the development of field development plans and manage production from new and existing wells to maximize economic recovery.
Technical Support and Problem-Solving:
Provide technical support during well construction, completion, and ongoing production operations.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues related to equipment, wellbore integrity, and production flow.
Participate in root cause analysis of production issues and develop effective corrective strategies.
Collaboration and Coordination:
Coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g., drilling, reservoir, maintenance, and safety) to ensure seamless operations and continuous improvement.
Assist in the development and execution of operational procedures, ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior production technologists and field personnel.
Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Compliance:
Ensure adherence to safety standards, promoting a culture of safety within the production team.
Participate in risk assessments and HSE audits to mitigate operational risks.
Ensure compliance with all local and international environmental regulations related to production operations.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare and present technical reports, including production forecasts, well-performance reviews, and optimization strategies to senior management.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of production data, well interventions, and equipment maintenance schedule
Professional Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
A Master’s degree in a related technical field is preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in oil and gas production, with at least 4 years in a senior or supervisory role.
Professional certifications (e.g., SPE, IPEN) are a plus.
Experience working in the oil and gas sector in Nigeria, with a deep understanding of local production and operational challenge
Knowledge & Skills Required:
Extensive knowledge of production technologies, well construction, reservoir engineering, and completion techniques.
Expertise in well-testing, performance analysis, and production optimization methods.
Strong understanding of reservoir dynamics, including fluid flow, pressure behaviour, and enhanced oil recovery techniques.
Proficient in using production software such as KAPPA, Petra, or similar reservoir simulation and production analysis tools.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with a track record of delivering results within timelines and budgets.
Strong understanding of project lifecycle, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Ability to train and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
Deep understanding of HSE regulations and best practices within the oil and gas industry.
Proven ability to contribute to a safety-first culture and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
