Job Overview
We seek a dynamic and experienced Ballistics Operations Specialist and Team Manager to lead technical projects, ensure compliance with international standards, and manage a team of skilled professionals.
This role demands a combination of technical expertise, leadership acumen, and strategic foresight to advance our mission of delivering world-class ballistic protection systems.
Responsibilities
Oversee the design, testing, and evaluation of ballistic-resistant materials and systems for personal protective wear, helmets, and vehicles.
Ensure all products meet or exceed international ballistic standards, including NIJ (National Institute of Justice), STANAG (NATO Standardization Agreement), and MIL-STD specifications.
Lead R&D initiatives to develop innovative solutions in ballistic protection, including lightweight materials and advanced composites.
Evaluate test results, analyze data, and provide actionable recommendations for performance improvement.
Stay abreast of advancements in ballistic science, material technology, and testing methodologies.
Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and analysts in project execution.
Set clear goals, delegate responsibilities, and provide constructive feedback to drive team performance.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability within the team.
Organize training programs to enhance team members' technical skills and professional development.
Conduct regular team meetings to align on project objectives and timelines.Develop, execute, and monitor project plans, ensuring timely delivery of objectives within budget constraints.
Manage resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to optimize efficiency.
Oversee testing operations, including ballistic impact tests, penetration tests, and environmental durability assessments.
Ensure all testing equipment is calibrated and maintained according to regulatory standards.
Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Act as the secondary point of contact for clients, partners, and regulatory agencies regarding ballistic protection projects.
Collaborate with the manufacturing and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless production transitions.
Represent NMTPSL at industry conferences, client meetings, and technical workshops.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
MBA or advanced certification in Engineering Management is a plus.
Minimum 15+ years of experience in ballistic systems, with at least 8 years in a managerial role.
Proven track record in the development and testing of ballistic protective systems, including helmets, vests, and vehicle armor.
Demonstrated success in leading technical teams and managing complex projects.
Proficiency in ballistics science, including internal, external, and terminal ballistics.
Expertise in ballistic materials such as Kevlar, Dyneema, ceramics, and composite materials.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus).
Knowledge of testing standards (e.g., NIJ, MIL-STD, STANAG) and compliance processes.
Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and 3D modeling.
Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a multidisciplinary team.
Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira) and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Lean).
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities in high-pressure situations.
Effective communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 Practitioner certification.
Certification in ballistic testing standards (e.g., NIJ, MIL-STD).
Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) or equivalent CAD certification.
Must be eligible for security clearances and pass a thorough background check.
