Job Title: Project Coordinator
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Employment Type: Full-time
Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution:
Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets.
Coordinate activities to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines.
Monitor progress and make necessary adjustments to keep projects on track.
Stakeholder Coordination:
Liaise with government agencies, contractors, consultants, and community representatives.
Facilitate communication between all project stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with city development policies and regulations.
Resource Management:
Oversee the allocation of materials, labour, and financial resources.
Ensure cost-effective procurement and utilization of resources.
Track expenses and report on budget performance.
Quality & Compliance Assurance:
Ensure adherence to construction and urban planning standards.
Conduct site inspections and risk assessments.
Address compliance issues and implement corrective actions.
Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare progress reports, presentations, and project documentation.
Maintain accurate records of contracts, permits, and project milestones.
Provide periodic updates to senior management.
Risk Management & Problem-Solving:
Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Resolve conflicts and unforeseen challenges to avoid project delays.
Implement contingency plans when necessary.
Sustainability & Innovation:
Integrate sustainable and smart city solutions into projects.
Stay updated on best practices in urban development and infrastructure.
Recommend innovative strategies for efficient city building.
Awareness of modern city-building trends, including green infrastructure and smart city solutions.
Ability to integrate sustainable practices into urban development projects
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Urban & Regional Planning, Project Management, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
A Master’s degree in Project Management, Urban Development, or a related discipline is an added advantage.
Relevant professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, COREN, ARCON, or PMI-SP) are desirable.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in project coordination, urban development, construction, or infrastructure management.
Proven track record in managing large-scale city development projects, real estate developments, or public infrastructure projects.
Experience working with government agencies, contractors, and stakeholders in urban planning.
Key Competencies & Skills:
Project Management & Coordination:
Strong ability to plan, execute, and monitor multiple projects simultaneously.
Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent.
Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and project deliverables efficiently.
Technical & Industry Knowledge:
Sound knowledge of urban planning regulations, building codes, and construction standards.
Familiarity with smart city technologies, sustainable development, and infrastructure design.
Understanding of environmental and social impact assessments in city development
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:
Strong ability to liaise with government agencies, developers, contractors, and community representatives.
Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Effective written and verbal communication, including report writing and presentations.
Regulatory & Compliance Awareness:
Knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks governing urban development in Nigeria.
Experience in securing permits, approvals, and ensuring compliance with land use policies.
Leadership & Teamwork:
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and attention to detail.
Capacity to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
