Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Store Keeper to manage and oversee inventory operations at our construction firm. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate records of all materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring efficient storage and organization, and facilitating the procurement process.
Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records, including quantities, locations, and usage patterns.
Conduct regular audits to assess inventory levels and identify discrepancies.
Order and Procurement:
Collaborate with project managers to anticipate material needs and prepare procurement orders.
Negotiate with suppliers to ensure costs are controlled and quality standards are met.
Receiving and Inspection:
Receive and inspect incoming shipments, verifying them against purchase orders and ensuring they meet quality standards.
Document any discrepancies or damage and coordinate returns with suppliers.
Storage Organization:
Implement effective storage solutions for tools and materials for easy accessibility and safety.
Ensure proper labeling and categorization of inventory items.
Record Keeping:
Maintain documentation of all inventory transactions, including receipts, issues, and returns.
Prepare periodic reports on inventory levels, turnover, and supplier performance.
Safety Compliance:
Ensure compliance with safety regulations regarding the storage and handling of materials, particularly hazardous items.
Promote a clean and safe work environment.
Material Issuance:
Track and record the issuance of materials and tools to construction teams, monitoring usage for project timelines.
Coordination and Communication:
Act as the primary point of contact for material requests from construction teams and project managers.
Communicate effectively regarding inventory levels and procurement timelines.
Budget Management:
Assist in budget preparation related to materials and supplies; monitor and report on spending to ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
Tool Maintenance
Oversee the maintenance and repair of tools and equipment, coordinating necessary repairs or replacements.
Measurable KPIs:
Accuracy of inventory records (target: 98% accuracy).
Percentage of orders fulfilled on time (target: 95%).
Number of discrepancies or issues reported with incoming shipments (target: less than 5%).
Reduced holding costs and waste through effective inventory management (target: 10% decrease).
Timeliness of reporting inventory levels (target: daily updates)
Education
A minimum of an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in inventory management or store-keeping in a construction environment.
Proven track record of successful inventory management and procurement processes.
Competencies:
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
