Job Title: Environmental Sustainability Manager

Job Purpose
To develop and manage the Food Concepts plc Environmental sustainability and Green housekeeping programmes and overseeing the delivery of efficiencies in utility consumption within The Food Concepts plc.
Core Responsibilities and Key Result Areas
Strategic Implementation:
To identify opportunities for the strategic development of environmental sustainability and climate change program
To own the development and delivery of the Sustainability Action Plan working with park teams and specialists across the organisation to drive initiatives across all business areas.
Ensure consistent monitoring, implementation and compliance of Business Division to relevant legislation laws
Implement strategic directions for Quality Assurance function for Business Division
Work with organisation members to audit, identify quality problems and improve operational processes
Investigate and diagnose quality complaints, track down components and recommend corrective actions
Develop and implement techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data.
Quality Standards and Procedural Management:
Maintain all operations and technical documents assigned to him
Ensure strict conformity to Food Safety Standard, ISO, cGMP, GHP, and GLP at all times
Should always ensure strict adherence to all set operation standards.
Ensure conformity of all raw materials and packaging materials to specifications before usage in the CR and Px stores under her direct control
Carry out spot checks on processes and materials before clearance for use, when required
Develop a measurable standard for materials and processes assigned to him/her.
Develop a measurable standard for all environmental aspects and processes assigned to him/her.
Report any non – conformity beyond his/her competence to the Superior without assumption.
Carry out analytical tests in conformity with the approved work instruction.
Collate and process analytical data and submit adequate report timely to the superior.
Whenever required, will cater for regulatory activities with the government agencies.
Maintain confidentiality of all technical information or documentation at his disposal
Perform any other task that may be assigned from time to time
Environmental/ Suppliers Certification:
Develop standards, specifications and environmental criteria required to be in conformity government requirements.
Demand FC’s / Regulatory agencies acceptable environmental, quality and food safety standards from our raw materials suppliers and contractors during supplies and services
Create a system that verifies, certifies and recommends acceptable suppliers/contractors that aligns with the FC’s minimum supplies’ quality /environmental standards.
Issue compliance rating against all company’s business locations and suppliers operating standards
Visit suppliers’ sites for processing and operations activities conformity to environmental and climatic change requirements
Environmental/ Climatic change Compliances:
Responsible for product labelling compliance and for keeping product specifications current.
Develop partnerships and relationships with relevant organisations.
To be alert to opportunities for fund raising for sustainability projects and apply for funds from grant and other providers.
Plan, promote, and organize training activities related to environmental sustainability and climatic change requirements.
Investigate regulatory agencies concerns or complaints about environmental ad climatic change matter.
Take necessary steps to control potentially unsafe or environmentally damaging activities
Reporting and Supervision:
Plan, assigns and supervises Quality/HSE function in South - West; through the direct reporting Associate/Officer(s)
Implement and monitor Environmental and climate change alongside Quality/HSE Initiatives and operations
Plan, schedule, coordinate, review and report on the work of directing reporting staff staff
Ensure periodic Environmental and climatic change /Quality/HSE reports/metrics to Head, Quality/HSE
Job Specifications
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Natural/Physical science or Manufacturing management is required. Possession of master’s degree in environmental related field will be an advantage
Possession of any relevant certification such as Six Sigma, ISO 14000, Quality Engineer or Quality Auditor is essential
Minimum of 4 - 5 years’ experience in production environment or similar role
Knowledge Requirements:
Knowledge of environmental and quality assurance policies and procedures and Safety – Food; Fire, OH & Environmental
Knowledge of relevant regulatory standards
Knowledge of tools, methods and concepts of quality assurance
Knowledge of data analysis tools and statistical analysis
Decision Expectations:
Executes and oversees environmental and climatic change action program in line with government act
Analyse and investigate product complaints or reported environmental/quality issues/Safety to ensure closure in accordance with company guidelines and external regulatory requirements.
