Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Nurse to join our team. As a Registered School Nurse, you will play a key role in promoting the health and well-being of our students and staff.
Responsibilities
Medical Care and First Aid: Provide medical care, first aid, and emergency response for students and staff.
Health Assessments: Conduct health screenings, monitor student health records, and identify health concerns.
Health Education: Educate students, staff, and faculty on healthy habits, disease prevention, and wellness strategies.
Counseling: Provide emotional support, guidance, and referrals for learners dealing with personal or health-related issues.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential student health records.
Collaboration: Work with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement health-related policies and programs.
Emergency Preparedness: Develop and implement emergency response plans, conduct drills, and provide training on first aid and CPR.
Communication: Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding health concerns, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
Assists the HOD with the preparation of the school's health budget.
Prepare and submit weekly reports on the bay activities to the HOD.
Health Education: Develop and implement health education programs, workshops, and presentations for students, staff, and parents.
Chronic Condition Management: Develop and implement care plans for students with chronic conditions, such as malaria, asthma, and sickle cell disease.
Medication Administration: Administer medications, monitor dosages, and maintain accurate records.
Work closely with school counselors, administrators, and teachers to support student physical, emotional, and mental well-being.
Maintain a stocked first aid kit and ensure that emergency medical equipment is accessible and in good working order
Conduct routine health screenings (e.g., vision, hearing, and growth assessments) to identify potential health issues.
Serve as a relief to the Head Nurse when off duty.
Health & Safety:
Promote healthy/safe school environment by assisting the administration and staff to maintain safe and sanitary conditions throughout the school. Reports problems promptly to the HOD.
Confer with and advises students, parents, and staff members on matters pertaining to the health and safety of students.
Ensure the meals prepared by the kitchen are healthy and well-balanced diets through tasting, observations and advice where necessary.
Requirements
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) .
Licensure: Current registered nurse (RN) licensure in Abuja.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in pediatric nursing, school nursing, or a related field.
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and other relevant certifications (e.g., CPR, First Aid).
Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Demonstration of Respect, Empathy and High Emotional Intelligence.
An understanding of Health and Safety guidelines.
Ability to work independently while being part of a collaborative school team, with a genuine affinity for working with children and understanding their needs.
