Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Lawyer with 10-15 years of post-call experience to join our legal team.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong background in corporate law, dispute resolution, regulatory compliance, and high-value transactions.
This role requires a proven track record of leading legal teams, managing complex cases, and advising high-profile clients.
The candidate will play a key role in business development, client management, and overall firm leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-level legal guidance on corporate, commercial, regulatory, and dispute resolution matters.
Lead complex litigation and arbitration cases, representing clients in high-stakes legal matters.
Oversee M&A, corporate finance, and high-value commercial transactions, ensuring legal compliance and risk mitigation.
Advise clients on evolving legal and regulatory frameworks, ensuring full compliance with applicable laws.
Serve as a trusted legal advisor for key clients, managing expectations and delivering strategic legal solutions.
Conduct legal risk assessments and due diligence for corporate transactions and investments.
Draft and negotiate complex contracts, agreements, and legal documents with precision and attention to detail.
Mentor and supervise junior and mid-level lawyers, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing.
Contribute to the firm’s expansion by identifying new business opportunities, building relationships, and enhancing the firm’s reputation.
Stay ahead of industry trends, case law developments, and regulatory updates, advising clients and the firm accordingly.
Requirements & Qualifications
LL.B Degree from a recognized university and BL from the Nigerian Law School (or relevant jurisdiction).
10-15 years of active post-call experience in a top-tier law firm or corporate legal department.
Deep expertise in corporate law, commercial transactions, dispute resolution, regulatory compliance, and governance.
Extensive experience handling complex litigation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution.
Strong skills in structuring, drafting, and negotiating complex legal agreements.
Proven experience leading legal teams, mentoring junior lawyers, and driving organizational success.
Ability to assess legal risks and provide business-focused legal solutions.
Strong ability to attract, retain, and manage high-value clients.
Ability to analyse complex legal issues and provide sound legal opinions.
Excellent written and oral communication abilities, including public speaking and client presentations.
Familiarity with legal research tools, case management software, and Microsoft Office Suite. Preferred Experience:
Experience working with multinational corporations, financial institutions, or regulatory bodies.
Proven track record in M&A, corporate restructuring, or high-value dispute resolution.
Expertise in taxation, intellectual property, oil & gas, or financial law.
