Job Description
The Biology Teacher will be responsible for delivering top-tier instruction, fostering critical thinking, and preparing students for outstanding performance in both national and international examinations.
The ideal candidate must be passionate about Biology, dedicated to academic excellence, and proficient in coaching students for highly competitive local and international examinations, including WAEC, NECO, JAMB, IGCSE, SAT, and Biology Olympiads.
Develop and deliver engaging, practical, and interactive Biology lessons aligned with WAEC, NECO, JAMB, IGCSE, SAT, and Olympiad curricula.
Utilize modern teaching methodologies, digital tools, and real-world applications to enhance students’ understanding of biological concepts.
Conduct hands-on laboratory experiments, dissections, and research-based activities to deepen conceptual learning.
Foster an inquiry-based and problem-solving approach to Biology education.
Examination Preparation & Coaching:
Implement targeted coaching strategies to ensure excellent performance in WAEC, NECO, JAMB, IGCSE, SAT, and other international exams.
Conduct intensive revision programs, mock exams, and performance tracking to identify and improve students’ weak areas.
Prepare and mentor students for Biology Olympiads, science competitions, and scholarship examinations.
Provide one-on-one academic mentoring and customized study plans for high-achieving students.
Student Development & Engagement:
Inspire students to develop a passion for Biology and STEM-related careers.
Organize science exhibitions, research projects, and environmental conservation initiatives.
Offer career guidance and university preparation support, particularly for students aspiring to study Medicine, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Environmental Science, and other life sciences.
Promote innovative learning approaches such as genetics research, medical case studies, and ecological field studies.
Classroom & Laboratory Management:
Maintain an organized, fully equipped, and safe Biology laboratory, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
Supervise practical sessions and ensure proper handling of laboratory specimens and equipment.
Keep detailed records of student assessments, practical reports, and research projects.
Collaboration & Professional Development:
Work closely with other STEM teachers to develop an integrated science curriculum.
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and subject-specific training.
Engage with parents, school management, and external examiners to track and support students' progress.
Educational Qualifications & Experience
B.Sc./B.Ed in Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related Life Science discipline from a recognized university.
A Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) is an added advantage.
Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in Biology at the senior secondary level.
Proven track record of coaching students for WAEC, NECO, JAMB, IGCSE, SAT, and Biology Olympiads with outstanding results.
Strong practical and laboratory skills with experience in conducting advanced Biology experiments.
Proficiency in technology-based teaching tools, simulations, and online learning platforms.
Excellent communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
