We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced English Language Teacher to join our faculty.
The ideal candidate must be passionate about English Language teaching and proficient in coaching students for highly competitive local and international examinations, including WAEC, NECO, JAMB, IGCSE, SAT, TOEFL, IELTS, and other standardized English proficiency tests.
Responsibilities
The English Language Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction that enhances students’ comprehension, communication, and analytical skills, ensuring their excellence in both national and international examinations.
Teaching & Curriculum Delivery:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and interactive English Language lessons aligned with WAEC, NECO, JAMB, IGCSE, SAT, TOEFL, IELTS, and other examination curricula.
Teach and reinforce reading comprehension, grammar, essay writing, phonetics, literature analysis, vocabulary building, and critical thinking skills.
Utilize modern teaching methodologies, multimedia tools, and real-world applications to enhance English proficiency.
Design and implement personalized learning strategies to cater to students of varying academic levels.
Examination Preparation & Coaching:
Develop and execute strategic coaching programs for students preparing for national and international English proficiency exams.
Conduct intensive revision sessions, mock tests, and skill-building exercises to improve performance in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Guide students on exam techniques, essay structures, and time management strategies for maximum success.
Prepare high-achieving students for essay writing competitions, spelling bees, debates, and public speaking contests.
Student Development & Engagement:
Foster a love for reading, creative writing, and public speaking through school-wide initiatives.
Organize and mentor students in literary clubs, drama groups, and debate teams.
Provide one-on-one mentorship and academic support to students struggling with English Language proficiency.
Encourage the use of online language learning platforms and digital literacy tools.
Classroom & Learning Environment Management:
Maintain a disciplined, engaging, and participatory classroom atmosphere that promotes effective learning.
Evaluate and monitor students’ progress through assignments, tests, and continuous assessments.
Integrate audio-visual materials, storytelling, and interactive simulations to make learning enjoyable.
Collaboration & Professional Development:
Work collaboratively with other teachers, school management, and parents to track and enhance student progress.
Attend professional development workshops, training, and seminars to stay updated with modern English Language teaching techniques.
Engage with external exam bodies and organizations to ensure best teaching practices for examination success.
Qualifications
B.A./B.Ed in English Language, Linguistics, Literature-in-English, or a related field from a recognized university.
A Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) is an added advantage.
Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in English Language at the senior secondary level.
Proven track record of coaching students for WAEC, NECO, JAMB, IGCSE, SAT, TOEFL, IELTS, and essay writing competitions with excellent results.
Proficiency in phonetics, creative writing, and public speaking methodologies.
Excellent communication, analytical, and mentorship skills.
