The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Housekeeper
Location: Kano
Employment Type: Full-time
The purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Administrative Assistant, the Housekeeper Ensures that ICRC premises are clean and understands and applies fundamental hygienic principles.
Responsibilities
Wipes staircase and vacuums the floors/carpets.
Mopes’ floors, and windows and wipes dust off the furniture.
Tidies the beds and empties paper baskets, and ashtrays.
Cleans bathrooms/toilets.
Supplies hand and toilet paper, soap, etc.
Takes care of drinking and domestic water reserves.
Washing the delegate's clothes and ironing them.
Make sure the cleaning material is always available and report any loss to the direct supervisor.
Report to the direct supervisor any malfunction of appliances, water loss, Gas loss
Bulbs to change, electricity cut, broken furniture, etc.
Washes the bed sheets, pillows covers and towels twice a week.
Cleans windows, walls, and doors and washes the curtains.
Cleans fridges thoroughly and the oven.
Education / Experience
Secondary Education
Basic Knowledge of English.
2 years of working experience in housekeeping and office management.
Knowledge of basic hygiene principles.
