Job Description
General:
Play a key part as a member of the Installation Team in driving site installation targets.
Develop and manage daily, weekly, and monthly work plans for site operations, ensuring efficient resource allocation and timely delivery of tasks.
Coordinate with the project manager to report progress, highlight any issues, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Ensure that all safety measures are strictly followed on-site, maintaining a safe working environment for all personnel.
Community Engagement:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with local community leaders, stakeholders, and key influencers to ensure ongoing support for the mini-grid project.
Organize community meetings, workshops, and events to share project updates, explain the benefits of the mini-grid, and gather input from the local population.
Identify opportunities to involve local people in the mini-grid project, whether through labor opportunities, training, or employment.
Site Installation:
Oversee all civil works related to the construction of the PV mini grid, including site preparation, foundation construction, and installation of supporting infrastructure.
Ensure the construction of enclosures, cable trenches, access roads, and fencing meet all design specifications and safety standards.
Coordinate with civil contractors and monitor the execution of works, ensuring compliance with project plans and schedules.
Supervise the installation of solar panels, inverters, battery storage systems, and other associated equipment.
Perform quality control checks to ensure that the PV system components are installed correctly and function efficiently.
Oversee the installation of electrical distribution lines, and other components necessary for the effective distribution of power from the PV system to the local grid.
Project coordinate the work of electricians, technical teams, and contractors involved in the distribution network setup.
Conduct inspections and testing of the generation system and distribution network to confirm that all components are functioning properly before commissioning.
Maintain comprehensive records of all site activities, including progress reports, material delivery logs, and safety audits.
Safety Compliance:
Develop and enforce safety protocols and procedures for all logistics activities related to the mini-grid, including transportation of equipment and materials.
Conduct or coordinate safety training programs for logistics staff and ensure all personnel involved in logistics operations are aware of and adhere to safety standards.
Conduct regular risk assessments of logistics operations and identify potential hazards. Develop mitigation plans to address these risks.
Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and compliance documents related to logistics operations.
Qualifications
A clearly defined strategic thought process and a continuous improvement mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
This position requires risk analysis, critical thinking, and the ability to provide solutions to the benefit of the company, and projects.
Minimum of a diploma in electrical/electronic/ mechanical or other engineering/science degrees.
Proven (2-3 years) working experience as a project engineer.
Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience in site/project development activities.
Should possess knowledge of applicable electrical regulations and standards.
Should be aware of safety standards and use of Personal protective equipment.
Good knowledge/experience in the electrical installation industry is preferred.
Must be computer literate.
Vocational or technical school training is an advantage.
Business level fluency in major Nigerian languages, a plus.
Excellent skills with MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and project management tools (MS Project, Asana, Slack etc)
