Job Overview
This role is critical for expanding financial services reach in Nigeria by providing convenient access to banking services through agency banking and merchant acquiring.
The Head of Agency Banking and Merchant Acquiring plays a pivotal role in driving revenue growth and enhancing financial inclusion.
Identify and acquire new merchant/agency clients for payment processing services.
Monitor the performance of agencies, ensuring compliance with established Guidelines.
Maintain and nurture relationships with existing merchant accounts & agency banking partners
Developing and implementing expansion and growth strategy for agency banking and Merchant network management
Payment Processing Solutions:
Offer merchant services, such as card payment acceptance, Point of Sale (POS) systems, and payment gateways.
Collaborate with technical teams to integrate payment solutions for merchants.
Compliance and Risk Management:
Implement risk assessment and fraud prevention measures.
Ensure that merchants comply with payment industry regulations and security standards
Assess and mitigate risks associated with agency banking operations.
Business Development:
Identify and pursue opportunities to expand the agency banking network.
Develop strategies to increase transaction volumes and revenue.
Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue targets.
Analyze market trends and competition to identify growth opportunities.
Merchant Support:
Provide merchants with technical support and assistance in resolving payment issues.'
Understand merchants’ business needs and provide tailored solutions.
Training and Development:
Provide training and support to merchant/agency partners to ensure they are well-equipped to serve customers.
Keep merchants/agents informed about new products, services, and banking regulations.
Performance Tracking:
Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of agency banking operations.
Generate reports and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement
Analyze transaction data to identify patterns, trends, and opportunities for optimization.
Contract Negotiation:
Negotiate terms and conditions of merchant/agency agreements.
Ensure that contracts are in compliance with legal and industry standards.
Marketing and Promotion:
Develop marketing strategies to promote merchant/agency banking services.
Collaborate with marketing teams to create promotional materials.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field (MBA preferred).
6-10 years of experience in merchant acquiring, agency banking, payment.
Strong knowledge of payment industry regulations and compliance.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Technical understanding of payment processing systems and technologies.
Ability to analyze data and provide actionable insights.
Sales and business development skills.
Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
Understanding of different payment methods and trends.
