Job Title: Assistant Network Operations Manager
Location: Lekki, Lagos
Job Summary
The Assistant Network Operations Manager will support the Network Operations Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the organization's network infrastructure.
This includes monitoring network performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring the security and reliability of the network.
The role also involves coordinating with other IT teams, managing network projects, and assisting in developing network policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Network Administration:
Continuously monitor network performance to ensure smooth and reliable operation.
Diagnose and resolve network issues promptly to minimize downtime.
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as firmware updates, patch management, and hardware replacements.
Implement and manage network backup and recovery plans to ensure data integrity and availability.
Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting steps.
Security Management:
Ensure that robust security measures are in place to protect the network from threats.
Regularly review security logs to detect and respond to potential security incidents.
Ensure that the network meets regulatory and compliance requirements.
Provide training to network staff on security best practices and emerging threats.
Resource Management:
Efficiently allocate network resources such as bandwidth, hardware, and software.
Assist in the preparation and management of the network operations budget.
Coordinate with vendors and service providers to ensure timely delivery of services and equipment.
Project Management:
Plan and execute network projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within scope, and budget.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver network solutions.
Oversee the work of consultants and contractors involved in network projects.
Team Leadership:
Provide leadership and support to the network team, including conducting performance reviews and addressing performance issues.
Identify training needs and opportunities for professional development for the network team.
Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. A master’s degree is a plus.
Professional certifications such as ITIL, CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
Minimum of 4 - 6 years of experience in network management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Proficiency in network routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), LAN/WAN technologies, and network security measures.
Familiarity with telecommunications networks industry standards and best practices.
Skills:
Strong understanding of network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) and software.
Ability to analyze complex network issues and develop effective solutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Proven leadership abilities, with experience managing and developing a team.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
