The Africa senior Compliance Manager will be responsible to provides compliance leadership and strategic advice to the Africa team within GE HealthCare’s EAGM Zone. Key areas of focus include:
Proactively supporting the business and company compliance initiatives and objectives;
Leading the Africa compliance team, and collaborating with the business and broader GL&P colleagues to foster a culture of performance with unyielding integrity;
Implementing global compliance policies, procedures and processes, and leading communications and training efforts locally;
Conducting risk assessments and mitigation activities;
Supporting investigations;
Evaluating compliance metrics to identify trends and conduct root cause analysis; and
Providing early-warning and guidance on the LCT’s evolving regulatory and enforcement developments.
Essential Responsibilities
Being an active business partner to the Africa business and leadership team, continually working to identify strategic opportunities to further a strong compliance culture, identify and reduce enterprise risks
Lead a team of compliance professionals, which includes coaching and development
Drive proactive compliance leadership and engagement to ensure that business colleagues are responsible for compliance with policies, processes, controls and other initiatives
Develop metrics and dashboards in coordination with EAGM and global team to provide leadership with appropriate indicators of compliance health
Provide training support to the business on GE HealthCare’s The Spirit & Letter and other global, regional, and business policies and procedures including, without limitation, Indirect Third Parties
Work closely with the commercial teams to strengthen controls and procedures in relation to Indirect Third Parties.
With global compliance team, develop relevant and timely compliance communications and trainings to embed the program in day-to-day activities, and implement business risk assessment initiatives and drive mitigation plan
With business leadership, drive real-time and relevant discussions of compliance topics, risks, mitigations and program efforts, and ensure that the Africa Compliance Reviews are held with appropriate cadence and relevant content
Monitor internal and external compliance trends, including compliance initiatives, industry compliance failures and applicable, industry specific regulatory requirements
Coordinate with the global compliance team and relevant business owners to support GE HealthCare’s open reporting system, regular monitoring and audits of compliance areas and support driving requisite improvements/resolutions for issues identified, including identification of trends and conducting root cause analysis of issues
Identify and resolve compliance-related procedural issues and areas of improvement, and ensure remediation actions plans are established, implemented and tracked through to closure
Any other responsibilities that may be identified by the Chief Compliance Officer or business from time-to-time
The person is expected to work across multiple management teams, cultures, geographies and to travel to different sites for training and investigation purposes.
Qualifications/Requirements
8-10 years of professional experience in compliance including risk mitigation, investigations, audit, operational and/or other relevant assurance areas in Africa countries, preferably with a multinational company in the healthcare sector
Comprehensive understanding of high risk and Africa’s market environment, theories and practices relevant to the function, and ability to respond with evaluative judgment based on analysis of factual & qualitative information in complicated or novel situations
Proven ability to manage high performing teams across multiple areas while continuing to be a business partner and a change agent
Solid experience in: (a) identifying and resolving compliance issues quickly and effectively; (b) ability to make timely and informed management calls with proven ability to drive operational excellence; and (c) developing and implementing compliance policies, processes and procedures
Proven ability to influence different levels of the company and help drive sustainable cultural and organizational change
Strong grasp of The Spirit & The Letter, business ethics policies and current compliance practices and relevant industry standards
Strong business acumen, ability to detect emerging compliance and industry trends and develop appropriate responses
Strong communication, interpersonal and collaborative skills with ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization and to influence beliefs and opinions of teams and other peers in the organization
Global mindset, able to deal with people from all different backgrounds and cultures
Demonstrable verbal and written fluency in English.
