Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Broadcast Lighting Mood Designer and Engineer to create captivating lighting designs and moods for our live broadcasts, productions, and events.
The successful candidate will have a strong technical background in lighting engineering, excellent creative skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilites
Technical Responsibilities:
Design and implement lighting systems, including selection of fixtures, dimming systems, and control consoles.
Program and operate lighting consoles, including ETC, Strand, and Vari-Lite.
Collaborate with production teams to achieve desired lighting effects and moods.
Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations, including electrical and fire safety.
Troubleshoot and resolve lighting system issues, including electrical and mechanical problems.
Creative Responsibilities:
Develop and implement lighting designs and moods that enhance the visual aesthetic of productions.
Collaborate with directors, producers, and other creatives to understand their vision and requirements.
Create lighting plots, cue lists, and focus charts.
Conduct lighting rehearsals and make adjustments as needed.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends andemerging technologies in lighting design.
Engineering Responsibilities:
Design and build custom lighting fixtures and systems as needed.
Install, test, and commission lighting systems.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on lighting equipment.
Ensure that all lighting systems are properly documented and easily maintainable.
Key Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Lighting Design, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in broadcast lighting design and engineering.
Proven track record of designing and implementing innovative lighting systems and moods.
Experience with lighting control consoles, including ETC, Strand, and Vari-Lite.
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of lighting principles, including color theory, optics, and electrical systems.
Familiarity with lighting protocols, including DMX and RDM.
Experience with lighting software, including Lightwright and Vectorworks.
Understanding of safety standards and regulations, including electrical and fire safety.
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to work under pressure, meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects.
Nice to Have Certifications:
Certified Lighting Designer (CLD) or Certified Lighting Technician (CLT).
Experience with LED lighting systems and energy-efficient lighting solutions.
Familiarity with 3D modeling and rendering software, including Blender and SketchUp.
Knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP and HTTP.
Experience:
Experience with large-scale lighting installations, including concerts, festivals, and theatrical productions.
Familiarity with lighting systems for broadcast and live events, including studio and location lighting.
Experience with lighting system maintenance and repair, including troubleshooting and problem-solving.
