Job Summary
The Culture Editor is responsible for leading the planning, development, and execution of the organization's cultural content and coverage across various platforms.
This role requires an experienced media professional with a deep understanding of the cultural landscape, a keen eye for compelling storytelling, and the ability to curate and deliver engaging content that resonates with the target audience.
The successful candidate will oversee a team of writers, editors, and content creators to ensure the consistent delivery of high- quality, impactful cultural journalism.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement the overall cultural content strategy for the organization, aligning with the broader editorial vision and business objectives.
Lead the ideation, assignment, and production of cultural stories, reviews, features, and multimedia content across print, digital, and social platforms.
Manage a team of writers, editors, and content creators, providing editorial guidance, feedback, and mentorship to ensure the consistent delivery of high- quality, impactful cultural journalism.
Identify emerging trends, hot-button issues, and opportunities within the cultural sphere, and spearhead the development of timely, insightful, and thought-provoking content.
Foster strong relationships with key cultural influencers, industry experts, and talent to cultivate a robust network of sources and contributors.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including digital, marketing, and audience engagement, to optimize the distribution and promotion of cultural content.
Analyze audience metrics, industry trends, and competitor activity to continuously refine the cultural content strategy and drive audience growth and engagement.
Ensure that all cultural content adheres to the organization's journalistic standards editorial guidelines, and ethical principles.
Serve as the primary spokesperson and thought leader on cultural matters, representing the organization at industry events and engaging with the broader cultural community.
Identify and develop talent within the cultural content team, implementing training and professional development programs to build a strong, future-ready workforce.
Key Requirements
Minimum 10 years of experience in cultural journalism, with a proven track record of leading successful cultural content initiatives across various media platforms.
Extensive knowledge and understanding of the cultural landscape, including the arts, entertainment, lifestyle, and emerging trends, with the ability to identify and capitalize on newsworthy and engaging cultural stories.
Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to craft compelling, well-researched, and insightful cultural content.
Strong editorial judgment and decision- making abilities, with the capacity to navigate complex cultural issues and maintain the highest journalistic standards.
Proven leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and manage a team of writers, editors, and content creators to deliver consistently high-quality cultural journalism.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Proficiency in data analysis and the use of audience metrics to inform content strategy and drive audience engagement.
