The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU, Bauchi was established in 1980 as the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Bauchi, located in the North Eastern part of Nigeria with Dr. Jerome Udoji and Professor A. O. Adekola as the pioneer Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor respectively, while Alh. Adamu Aliyu was the first Registrar of the University.

Job Description
The Director of Procurement shall serve as the Head, Procurement Unit of the University.
He will be responsible for leading the procurement function of the university, ensuring compliance with the Public Procurement Act 2007 and other relevant regulations.
Responsibilities
Providing strategic leadership for the procurement function of the university.
Developing and implementing procurement policies and procedures in line with the Public Procurement Act 2007.
Managing the procurement process, including planning, tendering, evaluation, and contract management.
Ensuring compliance with procurement regulations and standards
Collaborating with other departments to ensure effective procurement planning and execution.
Providing training and capacity building for procurement staff.
Managing the university's procurement budget and ensuring value for money.
Requirements
Applicants must possess the following qualifications and experience:
A minimum of second-class lower honors degree in a relevant field (e.g., Accounting, Purchasing and Supply, Business Administration, Economics).
At least 10 years of post-qualification experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a senior management position.
Proficiency certification on procurement from the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).
Certification in procurement from one of the SPESSE Centres of Excellence in Nigeria.
Strong understanding of the Public Procurement Act 2007 and other relevant procurement regulations.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Conditions of Service
The successful candidate will be appointed for a single term of four (4) years and entitled to the benefits and allowances approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Governing Council as the case may be.
