Job Description
The Distribution Engineer will be a key player in Havenhill’s mission to deliver clean, reliable, and sustainable energy to underserved communities.
This role focuses on the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical distribution systems for our solar mini-grid projects and other renewable energy solutions.
The Distribution Engineer will ensure that power is efficiently distributed to end-users while meeting safety, quality, and performance standards.
This position requires extensive travel to project sites across the country, where you will oversee the installation of distribution infrastructure, conduct technical assessments, and support troubleshooting efforts. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure seamless integration of distribution systems into broader project operations.

Key Responsibilities
Planning and Design:
Develop and review distribution system designs, including cable routing, layouts, spacing, and pole heights, to ensure efficient and compliant network setups.
Identify and standardize the tools, accessories, and materials required for distribution projects, ensuring adequate preparation for deployment.
Deployment and Supervision:
Lead the implementation of distribution networks, supervising installation teams to ensure adherence to design specifications and safety standards.
Coordinate distribution network deployment schedules, ensuring timely and cost-effective project execution.
Regulatory Compliance and Standards:
Enforce compliance with NEMSA standards and other regulatory requirements across all distribution activities.
Communicate distribution codes and standards to team members, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
Troubleshooting and Analysis:
Analyze and diagnose system failures, providing recommendations and implementing solutions to restore and enhance distribution performance.
Collaborate with the Engineering Operations team to ensure seamless operation and minimal downtime of distribution systems.
Safety and Best Practices:
Work closely with the HSEQ team to ensure all distribution activities adhere to safety and environmental guidelines.
Train team members on best practices and enforce the use of safety tools and equipment during field operations.
Continuous Improvement:
Lead efforts to enhance distribution processes by adopting innovative technologies, refining tools, and sharing best practices with the broader engineering team.
Stay updated on advancements in electrical distribution systems and integrate them into Havenhill’s projects where applicable.
Collaboration and Reporting:
Work collaboratively with the Project, Engineering Operations, and HSEQ teams to achieve successful project outcomes.
Prepare and present detailed reports on distribution project progress, challenges, and resolutions to senior management.
Requirements
Education:
B.Eng or HND in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Professional Registration:
COREN Registered Engineer (mandatory).
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role with expertise in power distribution (LV, MV and HV).
Certifications:
NEMSA certification or equivalent is highly preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in designing, deploying, and troubleshooting power distribution systems.
Strong knowledge of LV and HV distribution systems and standards.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Highly organized with attention to detail.
Travel Requirement:
Willingness to travel extensively to project sites.
