Havenhill is set to scale up her “end blackout” projects in rural communities by establishing several solar hybrid mini-grids and developing significant footprints in the commercial and industrial space.

Job Description
The Head of Engineering will be integral to realising this mission by overseeing the construction and commissioning of solar energy projects nationwide.
This role is focused on interpreting designs, managing on-site implementation, and ensuring that projects meet technical, safety, and quality standards while being delivered on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project Execution:
Oversee the construction of solar mini-grids, C&I/utility-scale solar PV systems, and other renewable energy projects across the country.
Work closely with the Project/Design team to interpret and execute project designs accurately.
Ensure that all installations comply with design specifications, local regulations, and international engineering standards.
Collaborate with the Projects team to ensure timely delivery of solar energy installations and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
Create and manage schedules for engineering activities, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and personnel.
Deploy team members to project sites as needed, ensuring proper coordination and productivity.
Leadership and Engineering Initiatives:
Lead Havenhill’s engineering initiatives, driving innovation and operational excellence in renewable energy project execution.
Develop strategic plans for engineering operations, aligning them with Havenhill’s mission and organisational goals.
Serve as a key advisor to senior management on engineering matters.
Lead and manage the site engineering teams, including supervisors, technicians, and contractors.
Provide technical guidance and ensure effective coordination among all team members during project implementation.
Health & Safety:
Collaborate with the Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) team to ensure all projects adhere to safety protocols and environmental guidelines.
Enforce safety standards on-site, ensuring the well-being of team members and the surrounding communities.
Resource and Budget Management:
Oversee resource allocation for construction projects, ensuring optimal use of materials, equipment, and personnel.
Manage project budgets, ensuring costs remain within approved limits while maintaining quality.
Stakeholder Management:
Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including community leaders, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies, to facilitate smooth project execution.
Address and resolve technical challenges and stakeholder concerns during the construction phase.
Operational Excellence:
Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for construction activities.
Conduct post-construction reviews to identify areas for improvement and implement lessons learned in future projects.
Talent Development:
Work with the People Relations team to ensure engineering talent is effectively trained and developed.
Mentor and build the capacity of engineering team members to foster professional growth and performance excellence.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Monitor progress on all construction sites, ensuring timelines are adhered to and milestones are achieved.
Provide regular updates to the CEO and senior management on project status, risks, and mitigation strategies.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Master’s Degree is preferred
Experience:
At least 12 years of relevant experience in engineering and construction roles, with 5 years in a leadership position.
Proven track record in managing renewable energy projects, particularly solar mini-grids and utility-scale installations.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in interpreting engineering designs and supervising their execution.
Strong understanding of solar energy systems, including PV modules, inverters, batteries, and grid connections.
Knowledge of construction best practices, project management methodologies, and relevant tools.
Soft Skills:
Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
Strong problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented approach.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
Certifications:
COREN Registered Engineer – mandatory
NEMSA Certification – Preferrable
Membership of relevant Associations e.g Nigeria Society of Engineers, International Association of Engineers etc
