The Position

• We are looking for a Data Governance Specialist who will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing data governance frameworks that ensure the availability, usability, integrity, and security of data across the organization.
• This role involves collaborating with various teams to define data management policies, establish data ownership, and monitor compliance with regulatory requirements.
• The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data governance principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams to align data policies with business objectives.

Responsibilities
In this role, you will:

• Develop and establish a data governance framework to ensure effective data management.
• Create and monitor data quality metrics to monitor the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of data.
• Implement data profiling and validation processes to detect and resolve data quality issues.
• Ensure data policies align with regulatory requirements (NDPR) and industry best practices.
• Maintain a centralized data catalog to track data sources, definitions, and metadata across the organization.
• Ensure metadata standards are followed to support discoverability and consistency of data.
• Promote the use of data dictionaries and standardized terminologies.
• Track data governance performance using dashboards and reports, ensuring alignment with business goals.
• Conduct periodic audits to identify governance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
• Act as a liaison between business and technical teams, fostering a culture of data accountability and transparency.

Requirements
We are looking for people with:

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, date engineering or a related role.
• Experience with data quality frameworks, metadata management, and data cataloging tools.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements (NDPR,NDPA) and industry standards.
• Strong understanding of data privacy and security principles.
• Experience with data profiling and data quality management tools.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Prior experience in fintech or financial services is an added advantage
• Knowledge of cloud data governance practices is an added advantage
• Certifications in data governance or data management frameworks is an added advantage.
