The Position
We are looking for a Data Governance Specialist who will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing data governance frameworks that ensure the availability, usability, integrity, and security of data across the organization.
This role involves collaborating with various teams to define data management policies, establish data ownership, and monitor compliance with regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data governance principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams to align data policies with business objectives.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Develop and establish a data governance framework to ensure effective data management.
Create and monitor data quality metrics to monitor the completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of data.
Implement data profiling and validation processes to detect and resolve data quality issues.
Ensure data policies align with regulatory requirements (NDPR) and industry best practices.
Maintain a centralized data catalog to track data sources, definitions, and metadata across the organization.
Ensure metadata standards are followed to support discoverability and consistency of data.
Promote the use of data dictionaries and standardized terminologies.
Track data governance performance using dashboards and reports, ensuring alignment with business goals.
Conduct periodic audits to identify governance gaps and recommend corrective actions.
Act as a liaison between business and technical teams, fostering a culture of data accountability and transparency.
Requirements
We are looking for people with:
Bachelor's Degree in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, date engineering or a related role.
Experience with data quality frameworks, metadata management, and data cataloging tools.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements (NDPR,NDPA) and industry standards.
Strong understanding of data privacy and security principles.
Experience with data profiling and data quality management tools.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Prior experience in fintech or financial services is an added advantage
Knowledge of cloud data governance practices is an added advantage
Certifications in data governance or data management frameworks is an added advantage.
