Job Title: Business Manager
Location: Abuja (FCT)
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Job Summary
The Business Manager will oversee the operational, financial, and strategic aspects of the farm’s business.
This includes ensuring efficient day-to-day operations, increasing profitability, identifying growth opportunities, and building strong relationships with clients, vendors, and stakeholders.
The role also involves managing a diverse team to ensure the farm achieves its production, marketing, and financial goals.
Responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Business Growth:
Develop and implement business strategies to drive revenue growth and profitability.
Identify new market opportunities and expansion prospects for farm products.
Analyze market trends, competitors, and customer demands to inform decision-making.
Prepare short-term and long-term business plans for approval by the Managing Director.
Operations Management:
Oversee daily farm operations, ensuring all processes run efficiently and meet quality standards.
Monitor production schedules and ensure timely delivery of products to customers.
Collaborate with Farm Supervisors to optimize resource utilization, including land, equipment, and manpower.
Ensure compliance with agricultural regulations, safety protocols, and environmental standards.
Financial Management:
Develop and manage the farm’s budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
Monitor financial performance, including sales, expenses, and profitability, providing regular reports to the Managing Director.
Negotiate contracts with vendors, suppliers, and customers to maximize profitability.
Oversee the collection of payments and ensure timely invoicing.
Sales and Marketing:
Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing team to design and implement promotional campaigns.
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, distributors, and retailers.
Represent the farm at trade shows, agricultural exhibitions, and community events to promote its products.
Expand the farm’s customer base by exploring new sales channels and partnerships.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead, mentor, and manage farm staff, ensuring high levels of productivity and morale.
Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify training needs.
Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Risk Management and Problem Solving:
Identify potential risks to farm operations and develop mitigation strategies.
Resolve operational issues and conflicts in a timely and effective manner.
Reporting and Communication:
Prepare and present detailed reports on operational and financial performance.
Act as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders, including regulatory authorities and suppliers.
Requirements
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years in a business management role in the agricultural sector.
Proven track record of managing farm operations or similar businesses successfully.
Skills:
Business and Financial Acumen:
Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial management.
Ability to develop and execute strategic business plans.
Operational Expertise:
Knowledge of agricultural processes and farm operations.
Experience with supply chain management and inventory control.
Leadership and Team Management:
Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse teams.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
Sales and Marketing Skills:
Expertise in developing and implementing sales strategies.
Strong negotiation and relationship-building abilities.
