Job Description

Role Overview

• We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Product Manager to drive the success of our products from conception to delivery.
• In this role, you will be responsible for defining the vision for our product portfolio, guiding the development process from concept through launch, and ensuring product-market fit.
• Experience in business, finance, or energy is a strong bonus as we work with diverse industries in these domains.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute product strategies, roadmaps, and vision in line with business goals and customer needs.
• Lead end-to-end product lifecycle management, from ideation to launch and post-launch optimization.
• Collaborate with engineering, design, sales, and marketing teams to ensure seamless product delivery.
• Collaborate with marketing to develop effective go-to-market strategies and product positioning.
• Lead cross-functional teams throughout the product development lifecycle, ensuring collaboration and alignment across departments.
• Create detailed product specifications and user stories that articulate requirements for development teams.
• Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities and refine product positioning.
• Engage with stakeholders and customers to gather feedback, ensuring the product meets their needs.
• Track product performance and user satisfaction post-launch, iterating and improving products based on data-driven insights.
• Drive the adoption of best practices in product management and agile methodologies within the team.
• Mentor and develop junior product managers and team members to build a high-performing product culture.

Requirements

• Education: BSc / BA in Business, Computer Science, or a related field; an MBA is a plus.
• Experience: 4+ years of experience in product management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role, ideally in the technology, consulting, or innovation sectors.
•  Skills: 
  • Exceptional understanding of agile methodologies and user-centered design principles.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret data to inform product strategy.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of successfully leading cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge: Proven experience in managing the entire product lifecycle and familiarity with competitive analysis and product positioning.
• Mindset: A strategic thinker with a passion for innovation, an entrepreneurial spirit, and an eagerness to establish and maintain a customer-centric approach to product development.
• Leadership & Multitasking: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice to Have:

• Experience in a technology-driven industry, especially within the African market.
• Experience or knowledge in business, finance, or energy sectors.
• Familiarity with data analytics tools to assess product performance.
• Previous experience in a startup or fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of UX/UI design principles to enhance user experience.
• Relevant product management certifications (e.g., Certified Scrum Product Owner) are a plus.
• Established network within the tech and startup community in Africa.
