The Confederation of African Football (CAF) was founded in 1957 by four nations: Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia and South Africa. As the administrative body of the region, CAF manages competitions, offers technical and administrative training courses while actively fostering the promotion and practice of football. The Confederation organizes championships such as the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN or AFCON), the most popular competition. It maintains very close links with FIFA in coordinating tournaments for different events such as the World Cup, Youth and Women competitions and the Olympic Games Football Tournaments.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: African Schools Program Manager
Location: Cairo, Egypt
Responsibilities
Strategic Planning:
Support the Director of Member Association in the assessment of the current Championship Model
Conduct a thorough review of the existing championship structure, rules, and regional participation mechanisms.
Gather input from key stakeholders, including football federations, schools, coaches, students, and educational authorities across African countries.
Evaluate the alignment of the championship with current trends in youth football development and international best practices.
Define clear, measurable objectives and KPIs for championship (e.g., participation rates, player progression, media exposure).
Create a roadmap for the implementation of the new model, outlining key phases, timelines, and resource requirements.
Assess the implementation of the school’s football championship at national level and advise on the logistical and operational requirements of.
Stakeholder Engagement & Consultation:
Engage with African football federations, school networks, sport’s governing bodies, and key development partners to solicit feedback and ensure alignment with national priorities and regional objectives.
Collaborate with other stakeholders to understand their expectations
Understand regional challenges in Africa (such as infrastructure, funding, gender inclusion, and access to talent) that impact the effectiveness of school football programs.
Requirements (Profile)
A Degree in Sports Management, Education, International Development, or a related field is preferred.
At least 5 years of experience in football development, sports management, or working with youth football programs, ideally in Africa or other developing regions.
Demonstrable experience in football competition structures, particularly at the grassroots or school level.
Strong project management skills with the ability to work independently and deliver results on time.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, from local schools to international organizations and ability to analyze complex systems, identify gaps, and develop creative solutions.
Fluency in English and French (written and spoken).
Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, able to work effectively with diverse communities across Africa.
Proactive and results-oriented mindset, with a focus on practical, actionable outcomes.
