Our client is in need of a Chief Risk Officer (CRO) that will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies, policies, and processes to identify, assess, and mitigate risks that could affect the organization's operations, reputation, and profitability.
The CRO collaborates with executive leadership to ensure risk management practices are aligned with the company’s strategic goals and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Risk Strategy and Framework:
Develop and implement a comprehensive risk management framework.
Ensure alignment of risk management strategies with the organization's goals and objectives.
Identify emerging risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
Risk Identification and Assessment:
Oversee enterprise-wide risk assessments to identify key risks across all business units.
Establish risk metrics and reporting mechanisms to monitor and evaluate risk exposure.
Analyze potential financial, operational, regulatory, and reputational risks.
Policy Development and Compliance:
Create and enforce risk management policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Collaborate with internal audit, legal, and compliance teams to manage risk-related issues.
Leadership and Collaboration:
Lead the risk management team and provide mentorship to ensure effective performance.
Collaborate with department heads and stakeholders to promote a risk-aware culture.
Serve as the key advisor to the executive team and board of directors on risk-related matters.
Crisis Management:
Develop and oversee business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
Lead the organization’s response to critical incidents and crises.
Reporting
Provide regular risk reports and insights to the executive team and board of directors.
Communicate the organization’s risk profile and management strategies effectively.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIS)
Timely identification and mitigation of potential risks.
Maintenance of regulatory compliance with minimal breaches.
Effective risk reporting and communication to stakeholders.
Success in implementing a robust risk management framework.
Performance of the business continuity and crisis management plans during incidents.
Educational Qualification and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Minimum of 17 years of experience in risk management, financial services, or a similar role.
Proven experience in leadership positions with strong decision-making capabilities.
Skills and Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of risk management principles, tools, and techniques.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Exceptional leadership and team management abilities.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
Personal Attribute:
Ideal candidate must be a male not less than 47 years of age.
Preferred candidates should have experience from the Fintech industry such as Moniepoint, Flutterwave, Palmpay, Opay, Unified Payments, Paga, Interswitch, etc.
