Damnaish Human Capacity Building Initiative (DHCBI) is a Humanitarian Non-Governmental Organization, founded in 2014 and incorporated with the Nigerian Government (Corporate Affairs Commission) in 2015 (CAC/IT/No 83231) to provide humanitarian assistance, in terms of emergency and Capacity building, social development and empowerment to eradication poverty and the fear of want. It has since its inception, been strategizing, collaborating, and interfacing with relevant stakeholders toward enhancing the individual’s ability to break free from poverty or bounce back in times of crisis.
Our society has over the years been bedeviled by insecurity, poverty, illiteracy, disease, hunger, malnutrition, lack of access to clean, water bad sanitation, human rights abuses environmental degradation as well a lack of economic opportunities, making it possible for the humanitarian crisis to thrive. DHCBI, therefore, has tailored its humanitarian services to building or restoring the capacity of individuals and communities towards rapid and quick recovery by supporting livelihoods and sustainable basic services through some articulated programs.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) Assistant
Location: Malakyariri, Mafa Local Government Area - Borno
Contract Duration: 8 months

General Description and Job Brief
The FSL Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting DHCBI’s efforts to enhance food security and livelihoods for vulnerable households in flood-affected areas, particularly in Malakyariri.
The position involves executing program activities such as cash-for-work (CfA), food-for-assets (FFA), agricultural recovery, and livelihood restoration initiatives. This role emphasizes community engagement, distribution of agricultural inputs, and facilitating training sessions to ensure sustainable recovery and resilience-building for target communities.
The FSL Assistant will support project components, including rehabilitation of infrastructure, dry-season farming, livestock production, and financial inclusion activities, ensuring adherence to DHCBI and donor guidelines.
Responsibilities
Program Implementation:
Assist in the execution of CfA/FFA activities, including targeting and mobilizing vulnerable households for participation.
Support the distribution of agricultural inputs (seeds, fertilizers, tools) and training on climate-smart agricultural practices.
Facilitate the distribution of livestock, feed, and veterinary support to beneficiaries.
Aid in the implementation of cash assistance programs, ensuring fair disbursement to eligible households.
Community Engagement:
Actively engage community leaders, women, youth, and persons with disabilities to ensure inclusive participation in FSL activities.
Conduct community sensitization on program objectives, safety protocols, and expected outcomes.
Support participatory planning and monitoring processes to align interventions with community needs.
Training and Capacity Building:
Organize and facilitate training sessions on crop diversification, irrigation techniques, and financial literacy.
Assist in building the capacity of beneficiaries on livestock management and business skills.
Provide orientation and safety training for CfA/FFA participants.
Monitoring and Reporting:
Collect and document data on beneficiary participation, training attendance, and program outcomes.
Conduct field visits to monitor program activities and provide regular updates to the Project Manager.
Support in preparing detailed reports on activity progress, challenges, and beneficiary feedback.
Infrastructure Rehabilitation:
Support community-led efforts to rehabilitate infrastructure such as feeder roads, water points, and sanitation systems.
Facilitate activities to restore homestead gardens and other communal assets.
Compliance and Accountability:
Ensure all activities comply with donor and DHCBI policies, including Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) guidelines.
Assist in maintaining a robust complaint and feedback mechanism to address beneficiary concerns promptly.
Qualifications
Education:
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Community Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in food security, agriculture, or livelihood support roles, ideally within humanitarian settings.
Familiarity with CfA/FFA programs, agricultural recovery, and livestock management is an advantage.
Requirements:
Applicant must be Mafa LGA indigenes.
Skills:
Strong communication and community engagement skills.
Experience in field data collection and reporting.
Knowledge of sustainable agricultural practices, including climate-smart techniques.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
Additional:
Ability to work in remote field locations under challenging conditions.
Fluency in Hausa and/or Kanuri is an advantage.
