Emel Hospital Festac Town, Lagos, Nigeria is a multi-specialists’ hospital, situated at 21 Road, Z Close in Festac Town, Amuwo Odofin Local Government Lagos, Nigeria. Emel Hospital is a purpose-built 44 bed hospital situated on a piece of land specially approved for its purpose by the Federal Housing Authority.
Emel Hospital was established in 1988 by Dr. Olufemi Mobolaji-Lawal, a consultant paediatrician. Dr. Mobolaji-Lawal trained as a doctor at the University College Hospital, Ibadan and as a paediatrician in the United Kingdom. Prior to setting Emel Hospital, he worked for some time as consultant paediatrician at Ikeja General Hospital (now Lagos State University Teaching Hospital), Lagos. He is the board chairman and his wife, Dr. (Mrs) Margaret Mobolaji-Lawal is a non-executive director.

Job Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist (Chemical Pathology)
The Medical Laboratory Scientist (Chemical Pathology) is responsible for analyzing biological samples to identify and monitor biochemical changes related to diseases. The role involves performing specialized laboratory tests, ensuring accurate results, and supporting clinical decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Testing and Analysis:
Conduct biochemical tests on blood, urine, and other body fluids to detect and monitor diseases.
Analyze test results to assist in diagnosing conditions like diabetes, kidney disorders, and liver diseases.
Ensure quality control and accuracy in all laboratory analyses.
Equipment Maintenance:
Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments such as spectrophotometers, analyzers, and centrifuges.
Monitor inventory levels and requisition laboratory reagents and consumables.
Quality Assurance:
Adhere to laboratory protocols and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Participate in internal and external quality control programs.
Document and validate results using laboratory information systems (LIS).
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with clinicians to provide interpretative advice on test results.
Provide technical support and training to junior staff and laboratory interns.
Communicate critical values promptly to the relevant medical personnel.
Research and Development:
Participate in clinical research projects and assist in the development of new diagnostic methods.
Stay updated with advancements in chemical pathology and laboratory technologies.
Educational and Professional Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) or equivalent.
Professional license with the relevant medical laboratory regulatory body.
1-3 years of experience in chemical pathology or clinical chemistry.
Certification in quality assurance or advanced laboratory techniques is an advantage.

Remuneration
N200,000 - N220,000 Monthly.
