Prefab World International Services Limited produces porta cabins, Caravan, prefab offices, containers, prefab homes, mobile homes, and steel buildings in Nigeria.
An Architect Trainee in a prefabricated construction company is responsible for assisting the architectural team in the design, development, and implementation of prefabricated building systems.
The role involves exposure to innovative construction techniques, from the initial design phase to the assembly of prefabricated modules.
The trainee will gain experience in both architectural design and the practical aspects of prefabricated construction, contributing to the creation of efficient, sustainable, and cost-effective building solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design Support: Assist in the development of architectural designs focused on prefabricated construction. Ensure designs align with manufacturing processes, structural systems, and modular construction principles.
Modular Design & Planning: Work on designing prefabricated building modules, including layout, dimensions, and structural requirements. Ensure designs can be efficiently produced, transported, and assembled.
Drafting & 3D Modeling: Create and modify architectural drawings using CAD and BIM (Building Information Modeling) software (AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, etc.) to visualize prefabricated structures.
Site Visits & Coordination: Assist in site visits to monitor construction progress, gather data, and ensure the correct application of prefabricated modules. Support coordination between design and production teams to ensure seamless integration of design and manufacturing.
Material & System Research: Research innovative materials, technologies, and building systems used in prefabricated construction. Assist with selecting sustainable and cost-effective materials for modular buildings.
Collaboration with Engineers & Manufacturers: Work closely with engineers, structural specialists, and manufacturers to ensure that designs are feasible for prefabrication. Understand the production processes and assembly procedures of prefabricated elements.
Compliance & Documentation: Ensure that designs adhere to local building codes, regulations, and sustainability standards. Assist in preparing documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and client-facing use.
Learning & Development: Stay up to date with trends and best practices in prefabricated construction, modular building design, and sustainability. Participate in workshops and training sessions to develop technical expertise.
Skills & Qualifications
Education: HND holder or recently graduated from a Bachelor’s degree program in Architecture or a related field.
Software Proficiency: Basic knowledge of architectural design software (AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, BIM software). Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Understanding of Prefabrication: Familiarity with prefabricated or modular construction techniques, including the design of standardized modules and building systems.
Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, especially in ensuring design compatibility with manufacturing and assembly processes.
Creativity & Problem Solving: Ability to come up with creative solutions for modular designs that meet functional, aesthetic, and budgetary requirements.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with teams and presenting design ideas.
Collaboration & Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, and factory production teams.
Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Sustainability: Interest in sustainable building practices, green technologies, and eco-friendly design solutions.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional):
Previous internship experience in architectural design, prefabrication, or modular construction.
Understanding of sustainable design practices and green building certifications (e.g., LEED, BREEAM).
Experience or interest in 3D printing, digital fabrication, or other cutting-edge construction technologies.
Working Conditions
Primarily office-based with some site visits as site visits and project monitoring will be themajor focus.
The role may require occasional travel to manufacturing locations or project sites.
Follow up with the project team to make sure the project is executed according to plan.
Work on the list of materials by calculating the number of items needed for a project.
Salary
