Job Purpose
The PMTCT Associate will support the provision of a comprehensive PMTCT program. He/She will provide quality assurance/improvement-focused technical assistance and serve as a subject matter expert regarding process improvement initiatives across sexual and reproductive health, PMTCT, TB/MNCH and family planning at the state level.
The associate will support the team in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of strategies and activities around PMTCT/MNCH.
The Associate will ensure the provision of quality care for PMTCT, Infants exposed to HIV, and pregnant adolescents and young women across all supported sites and support the implementation of Baby Showers and Mother Love Parties.
The Associate will also ensure eligible women of reproductive age have access to cervical cancer screening and prompt treatment for clients with precancerous lesions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Associate will support the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the PMTCT program at the state level.
Provide technical assistance to service providers in supported health facilities to provide integrated PMTCT/FP/RH services.
Provide technical expertise and training for HIV/AIDS prevention, PMTCT, Infants exposed to HIV, TB/MNCH, and Family Planning services
Support programs to strengthen linkages and integration between Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), Maternal Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) services and HIV/AIDS programs
Work with facility staff to ensure a continuum of care from the prevention of transmission of infection to the provision of care and treatment for HIV-positive pregnant and breastfeeding mothers and their HIV-exposed infants.
Provide technical support in the integration of TB/MNCH, family planning, PrEP and cervical cancer screening into the PMTCT program
Work with service providers to optimize viral load monitoring and EAC for pregnant and breastfeeding women
Work with the paediatrics team on perinatal care of HIV-positive pregnant mothers.
Provide ongoing mentoring and supportive supervision to facility staff to ensure aquality service provision
Support the scale-up of the cPMTCT/AP3 strategy.
Deliverables:
Support 100% HIV testing of pregnant women at ANC
Support the optimization of viral load monitoring and EAC for pregnant women.
Support the optimization of Dual Prophylaxis for High-Risk Infants
Track early infant diagnosis activities at birth and six weeks of life.
Support the integration of family planning services for HIV-positive women of reproductive age.
Support the optimization of partner testing in PMTCT settings.
Support the active linkage of HIV-exposed infants into the paediatrics program.
Key Performance Indicators
Proportion of pregnant women who know their HIV status.
Proportion of HIV-positive pregnant women enrolled in PMTCT.
Proportion of HEI who had DBS done at Birth and 6 weeks.
PBFW VL coverage, VL suppression rate, and EAC completion rate.
Partner testing outcomes.
Proportion of HIV-positive women using at least one form of family planning.
PMTCT outcome reporting rate.
Linkage of exposed infants to care.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine, Public Health, or a related field
At least 2 years post-NYSC experience in developing country healthcare programs or program support functions.
Extensive clinical experience in the care and treatment of HIV/AIDS patients.
Strong supervisory and management skills.
Willingness to work in challenging environments and difficult terrains.
