Tomato Jos is a private equity-backed, fast-growing social enterprise located in Kaduna, Nigeria, that believes in the power of local production for local consumption. Our company aims to supply 10% of the processed tomato market in Nigeria within the next 5 years. We source tomatoes from smallholder farmers within our network and make high-quality branded consumer products for Nigeria and West Africa. We operate a 500Ha commercial farm, run a successful smallholder program with over 500 farmers, and have a tomato processing facility.

Role Description
The general responsibility is to ensure that production is maximized through the most efficient and systematic processes. Manages the operations of the Grower Service (GS) and the Greenhouse (GH).
Responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, particularly budgeting, planning, and coordinating staff and assets of the Greenhouse and the Grower Service. Providing technical expertise to farmers on best practices for crop production, especially for tomatoes. Regularly assessing and monitoring crop health, providing actionable recommendations based on observations.
Responsibilities
Oversee the design and implementation of effective irrigation strategies tailored to farmers' needs. Monitor water usage and ensure sustainable practices are followed. Provide training on irrigation management to optimize crop yields.
Coordinate tractor services for land preparation, planting, and other agricultural operations. Ensure that all machinery is maintained, used safely, and available as needed. Train farmers on the proper use of agricultural machines and equipment.
Plan and supervise harvesting operations to ensure timely and efficient crop collection. Collaborate with farmers to assess crop maturity and optimize harvesting schedules. Implement post-harvest practices that maintain quality and reduce losses.
Collect and analyze data on crop performance, farmer feedback, and departmental operations. Prepare regular reports for management detailing progress, challenges, and recommendations. Use data to inform decision-making and improve service delivery.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with farmers, stakeholders, and industry partners. Act as the primary contact for farmers seeking assistance or information. Facilitate communication between farmers and the company regarding services and resources.
Ensure that all operations comply with agricultural regulations and safety standards. Promote best practices in safety and environmental protection among farmers and staff. Conduct regular inspections and risk assessments to mitigate potential hazards.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in agricultural services or farm management.
In-depth understanding of farm operations and greenhouse practices.
Proven leadership and team management experience.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools.
Required Skills:
Experience with sustainable agricultural practices and organic farming.
Ability to develop training materials and conduct effective training sessions.
Familiarity with agricultural machineries (operations and maintenance).
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
