Job Title: Fish Feed Production Technician
Location: Lafia, Nasarawa

Reports To: Farm Manager
Employment Type: Part-time, Onsite (3 days a week to be agreed)
Working Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Standard working hours, with breaks for religious activities as per company policy)
Job Summary
The Fish Feed Production Technician will be responsible for assisting with producing high-quality fish feed at LAJ Aquaculture's production facility.
This part-time role requires a detail-oriented individual with technical skills in feed production, ensuring the efficient operation of equipment and processes.
The technician will work onsite for three days a week, assisting in feed production, quality control, and equipment maintenance to meet production demands.
Key Responsibilities
Fish Feed Production:
Feed Production Assistance:
Assist in the day-to-day operations of the fish feed production process.
Ensure feed is produced according to specifications and within the required quality standards.
Operate production machinery, including mixers, grinders, and extruders.
Monitor the production line to ensure smooth operations and troubleshoot any issues.
Quality Control:
Monitor the quality of fish feed, ensuring it meets nutritional and environmental standards.
Conduct regular quality checks to ensure feed consistency and ingredient quality.
Assist in sampling and testing feed for moisture, protein content, and other key parameters.
Inventory Management:
Assist in managing raw material inventory for feed production, including stocking ingredients.
Ensure that raw materials are correctly stored and are available for production schedules.
Helped track and report inventory levels and materials usage.
Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
Assist in the maintenance and cleaning of feed production equipment.
Troubleshoot equipment issues and report faults to the Farm Manager.
Ensure that all equipment is operating safely and efficiently.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Follow health and safety protocols in the feed production area.
Ensure cleanliness and proper sanitation of the feed production area and equipment.
Report any health or safety concerns to the Farm Manager immediately.
Other Responsibilities:
Assist the Farm Manager with additional tasks related to fish feed production as needed.
Maintain accurate records of production, inventory, and quality control data.
Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards in all feed production activities.
Qualifications and Skills
A minimum of a high school diploma; a degree or certification in Food Science, Agriculture, or related fields is an advantage.
At least 2 years of experience in feed production or a related technical role.
Basic knowledge of machinery and equipment used in feed production.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high production standards.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Good understanding of health and safety protocols in a production environment.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors.
Working Hours & Breaks:
Part-time Onsite: 3 days a week (hours to be agreed upon with the Farm Manager).
Standard working hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM for the days worked.
Breaks: Employees are allowed breaks for religious activities during the workday, integrated as part of the overall working schedule, as per the company’s policy. Break times will be mutually agreed upon with the Farm Manager to ensure continuity of operations.
Salary and Benefits
The salary will be benchmarked against the current minimum wage in Nigeria (NGN 70,000), with a 25% supplement added for the Fish Feed Production Technician role:
Current Minimum Wage Benchmark: NGN 70,000 monthly
Supplement: 25% of the minimum wage, totalling NGN 17,500
Total Monthly Salary: NGN 87,500 (for full-time equivalent, prorated for 3 days a week)
Part-time roles will be paid pro-rata, with salaries adjusted according to the reduced working hours.
Accommodation: Onsite accommodation will be provided only when the technician is onsite. The accommodation includes:
Kitchen: Fully equipped for meal preparation.
Electricity & Water: Reliable electricity and water supply.
Entertainment: Access to Netflix and television for personal relaxation.
