Job Title: Farm Assistant (Sites 1 & 2)
Location: Site 1: Shinge Road; Site 2: Kwandere Road - Lafia, Nasarawa

Working Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (Standard working hours, with breaks for religious activities as per company policy)
Job Summary
The Farm Assistant will support the day-to-day activities at both LAJ Aquaculture's farming sites (Site 1 and Site 2). This entry-level position involves assisting with various farm tasks, including fish production, feed management, and farm maintenance.
The ideal candidate will be eager to work in a hands-on environment, learn about aquaculture practices, and contribute to the smooth running of the farm.
Key Responsibilities
General Farm Support:
Assisting in Fish Production:
Support fish farming operations, including feeding, stocking, and monitoring fish health.
Assist with daily fish checks to ensure proper growth, health, and water quality.
Help with the cleaning and maintenance of fish tanks and ponds.
Feed Management Support:
Assist with the preparation and distribution of fish feed to the farm.
Help with the storage and inventory of feed materials.
Ensure feed is stored properly and available when required.
Farm Maintenance:
Assist in maintaining farm equipment and infrastructure.
Perform regular farm upkeep tasks, such as cleaning, repairing fences, and checking equipment.
Ensure that farm tools and equipment are clean and in good working condition.
Health & Safety:
Follow health and safety protocols while working on the farm.
Assist in implementing biosecurity measures to protect fish from disease.
Report any potential health or safety concerns to the Farm Manager.
Assisting in Harvesting and Processing:
Assist in the harvesting of fish when necessary.
Help with the processing and packaging of harvested fish for sale.
Additional Duties:
Assist other farm staff with tasks as needed.
Follow instructions from the Farm Manager and other supervisors.
Ensure farm cleanliness and organisation at all times.
Qualifications and Skills
A minimum of a high school diploma; additional certifications or training in agriculture or aquaculture is a plus.
No prior experience is required, though previous farm or agricultural experience is advantageous.
Basic knowledge of farm operations and a willingness to learn about aquaculture.
Ability to work well in a team and follow instructions.
Strong work ethic and reliability.
Good physical fitness, as the role involves outdoor and manual tasks.
Strong attention to detail and an eagerness to maintain farm operations efficiently.
Working Hours & Breaks:
Full-time Onsite: Standard working hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday (5 days a week).
Breaks: Employees are allowed breaks for religious activities during the workday, integrated as part of the overall working schedule, per the company’s policy. Break times will be mutually agreed upon with the Farm Manager to ensure continuity of operations.
Salary
Based on the current minimum wage in Nigeria: NGN 70,000 / Month
