Job Description
A Sales Officer in the agro industry is responsible for driving sales, building strong relationships with clients, and promoting agricultural products and services.
This role involves identifying customer needs, providing solutions, and ensuring the achievement of sales targets within assigned territories.
Responsibilities
Sales and Business Development:
Identify and pursue new sales opportunities within the agro sector, including farmers, distributors, cooperatives, and agribusinesses.
Promote and sell agricultural products such as fertilizers, seeds, agrochemicals, machinery, or processed goods.
Develop and execute sales plans to achieve or exceed targets.
Customer Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients.
Address customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.
Provide technical advice on the use and benefits of agricultural products.
Market Research and Analysis:
Gather market intelligence on competitor activities, pricing strategies, and customer preferences.
Identify trends and opportunities within the agricultural sector to inform sales strategies.
Provide regular reports on sales activities, market conditions, and customer feedback.
Product Knowledge and Training:
Stay updated on the features, benefits, and applications of the company’s products.
Organize and conduct training sessions or demonstrations for customers and stakeholders.
Collaborate with technical teams to address customer-specific needs.
Logistics and Order Management:
Coordinate with the supply chain team to ensure timely delivery of products to customers.
Manage orders, invoicing, and payment collection in line with company policies.
Monitor stock levels and provide forecasts to ensure product availability.
Compliance and Ethics:
Adhere to company policies, industry standards, and local regulations.
Ensure ethical practices in all sales activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
Proven experience in sales, preferably in the agro industry or related fields.
Strong understanding of agricultural practices, products, and market dynamics.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Proficiency in using sales software and Microsoft Office tools.
Ability to speak local languages is an advantage.
Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively.
Work Environment:
Field-based role with regular travel to farms, agro-dealer shops, and rural areas.
Interaction with a wide range of stakeholders, including farmers, traders, and agribusiness owners.
