We are seeking a skilled and talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with others in the engineering teams to design engineering projects, and or interpret project drawings provided by the client, and guide the project team throughout the execution process.
To succeed in this position, you should possess a strong aptitude for mathematics and mechanics, along with exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of engineering and design principles, with the ability to develop innovative solutions to technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
Represent the company at meetings for both upcoming and ongoing projects to understand their requirements.
Managing project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure successful project delivery.
Coordinating with clients, designers, and engineers to maintain alignment and ensure project coherence.
Preparing technical reports, design specifications, and operational manuals.
Reporting project status to senior management and clients regularly.
Utilizing CAD and 3D CAD programs for planning and designing mechanical projects.
Working closely with Engineers, Designers, and Project Managers to ensure smooth project execution.
Writing and maintaining detailed operational procedures.
Creating detailed budgets and timelines for project execution.
Collaborating with clients and colleagues to develop comprehensive design briefs.
Applying mathematical knowledge to develop innovative and effective design solutions.
Previous experience in a similar role within an engineering firm.
Overseeing the development process, including tracking project progress and costs, while keeping clients informed.
Coordinate and review engineering schedules with project team members
Collaborate with the QHSE Coordinator to formulate, review and approve documentation for quality and safety.
Provide technical support during assembly and installation of equipment
Modify designs to correct operating and production issues
Calculate cost estimates for final product designs, and release reports to supervisors, incorporating costs of labor, material, delivery and overhead
Attend weekly team meetings to provide progress reports, obtain updates on colleagues’ progress, and strategize on steps for the following week.
Record and evaluate testing data, altering designs as necessary to bring them to safety, performance and efficiency standards
Consult with fabrication teams during fabrication, advising them on design specifications and providing physical assistance when required.
Requirements
Minimum of HND or BSc in Mechanical Engineering
A minimum of 3 years of experience as a mechanical design engineer.
Proficiency in common design software, such as AutoCAD and 3D CAD programs.
