Job Description
Our client seeking a seasoned and dynamic Operations Manager to lead its plastic paint bucket manufacturing facility.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving operational excellence, optimizing production processes, and maintaining high-quality standards.
This position is pivotal in managing resources effectively and fostering a culture of continuous improvement to meet the company’s production goals, cost reduction targets, and growth objectives.
Responsibilities
Production Oversight:
Manage daily production activities to meet set output targets.
Monitor production line efficiency and implement improvements.
Ensure product quality meets or exceeds company standards.
Process Optimization:
Analyze current manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies.
Develop and implement strategies to enhance productivity.
Collaborate with the engineering team on process improvements.
Inventory and Supply Chain Management:
Oversee raw material inventory levels and reorder points.
Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries.
Optimize warehouse layout and storage systems.
Implement and maintain an efficient inventory tracking system.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure adherence to all relevant safety regulations.
Maintain compliance with environmental regulations regarding plastics manufacturing.
Develop and enforce internal safety protocols.
Conduct regular safety audits and address any identified issues.
Production Scheduling:
Create and manage production schedules to meet customer demands.
Balance workload across shifts and production lines.
Coordinate with the sales department to align production with forecasts.
Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate rush orders or equipment downtime.
Staff Management:
Supervise production floor staff, shift supervisors, and team leads.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
Identify training needs and implement appropriate programs.
Foster a positive work environment and address employee concerns.
Interdepartmental Coordination:
Work with the sales team to understand customer requirements and timelines.
Collaborate with the finance department on budgeting and cost control.
Liaise with quality control to ensure products meet specifications.
Coordinate with the maintenance team for equipment upkeep and repairs.
Equipment Management:
Oversee preventive maintenance schedules for all production equipment.
Coordinate with the maintenance team on repairs and upgrades.
Evaluate new equipment options and make purchase recommendations.
Quality Control:
Implement and maintain quality management systems.
Oversee quality testing procedures for raw materials and finished products.
Address customer complaints and implement corrective actions.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in manufacturing operations, with at least 3 years in a management role within a production environment. Specific experience in plastics manufacturing and injection molding is highly desirable.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of plastic manufacturing processes, particularly injection molding. Familiarity with paint bucket production techniques and industry standards. Understanding of supply chain management and inventory control systems.
Leadership and Management Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate teams in a manufacturing environment. Experience in performance management and employee development.
Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills. Excellent conflict resolution and negotiation abilities.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to present complex information to various stakeholders.
Experience in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management. Must understand and speak Igbo language fluently.
Salary
N300,000 - N500,000 monthly.
