Role Overview
The Head of Operations & Business Development will be responsible for overseeing and managing the operational activities of the Microfinance Bank while driving business growth and development strategies.
This dual-role position requires a strategic and detail-oriented leader who can optimize operations, expand market presence, and support the overall mission of financial inclusion.
The Head of Operations & Business Development will work closely with the Managing Director and other department heads to ensure the bank operates efficiently, complies with regulatory requirements, and achieves growth targets.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management:
Oversee and manage the bank's day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
Develop, implement, and review operational policies, procedures, and systems.
Monitor the performance of operational activities, ensuring alignment with the bank's strategic objectives.
Process Optimization:
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
Leverage technology to streamline operations and reduce costs.
Develop and monitor performance metrics for operational efficiency.
Risk and Compliance:
Ensure all operations comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Work closely with the Risk and Compliance teams to identify and mitigate operational risks.
Conduct regular reviews and audits to maintain operational integrity.
Business Development:
Develop and implement business strategies to expand the bank's market presence.
Identify new market opportunities and design financial products and services to meet customer needs.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders.
Collaborate with the marketing team to develop campaigns that drive customer acquisition and retention.
Team Leadership:
Build and lead a high-performing operations and business development team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Provide training, mentorship, and development opportunities for team members.
Collaborate with other department heads to achieve organizational goals.
Customer Experience:
Ensure the delivery of excellent customer service through efficient operational processes.
Monitor and address customer feedback to improve service delivery.
Develop initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction and retention.
Resource Management:
Manage the allocation and utilization of resources, including personnel, technology, and facilities.
Ensure cost-effectiveness while maintaining high service standards.
Oversee vendor management and procurement processes.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Operations Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification is an advantage.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in banking or financial services, with at least 3 years in a senior operations or business development role.
Strong understanding of microfinance operations, banking processes, and regulatory requirements.
Proven track record of process optimization and operational efficiency.
MCP (Microfinance Certified Professional) certification is an added advantage.

Proficiency in banking software and operational tools.
