Job Title: Associate Manager, Communications
Location: Abuja / Kano
Purpose of the position
The Associate Manager, Communications, will work closely with the Manager to develop and implement short and long-term communications strategies for the organization as well as provide support in managing and leading the Communications team.
What you’ll do
To perform this job successfully, the Associate Manager Communications will perform the following responsibilities:
Strategic Communications Planning and Implementation:
Develop and implement an integrated communications strategy to enhance eHealth Africa’s brand visibility, storytelling, and thought leadership.
Design and execute initiatives such as webinar series, conference engagements, and partnerships to position eHealth Africa as a leader in public health innovation.
Evaluate and refine communication strategies on a quarterly basis, leveraging insights from social media, print, digital content, and email marketing campaigns.
Develop proactive and reactive public relations campaigns to secure positive media coverage, highlighting eHealth Africa’s expertise, solutions, and mission.
Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, ensuring effective dissemination of organizational updates and achievements.
Content Creation and Impact Storytelling:
Collaborate with beneficiaries, and program staff to collect testimonials, quotes, and other qualitative data to create compelling impact stories.
Oversee the production and distribution of high-quality print and electronic materials, including annual reports, brochures, newsletters, presentations, and project-specific documentation.
Ensure all collateral is aligned with eHealth Africa’s branding and messaging standards.
(Provide evidence of past written work, including published articles, reports, or other communication materials, demonstrating proficiency in crafting impactful narratives and professional documentation)
Social Media and Digital Presence:
Develop and manage a robust social media strategy tailored to eHealth Africa’s target audience.
Utilize analytics and metrics to refine digital strategies, enhance engagement, and strengthen the organization’s online presence.
Ensure consistent branding across all digital platforms, including the website, social media channels, and conference presentations.
Event and Thought Leadership Positioning
Guide the planning and execution of eHealth Africa’s participation in public health forums, conferences, and events.
Work with executive leadership and other key staff to position eHealth Africa as a thought leader in public health through authored articles, opinion pieces, and participation in high-profile discussions.
Identify and capitalize on trends and current events to strategically engage in public health conversations and debates.
Project Implementation and Routine Support:
Provide leadership and mentorship to the communications team and serve as a resource for innovative solutions in complex situations.
Collaborate with internal teams to address issues and maintain consistency in all communications.
Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by the Communications Manager or organizational leadership.
Brand Management and Consistency:
Ensure uniformity in branding across all communication platforms, tools, and materials, including social media, digital, and print media.
Monitor and adapt the organization’s communication practices to reflect emerging trends, keeping eHealth Africa’s brand relevant and impactful.
Who you are
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job successfully:
Master’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related discipline.
Minimum 7 years of progressive and related experience
At least 2 years experience leading a high-performance team
At least 5 years of experience working with donor-funded programs (USAID, FCDO, etc.)
A proven leader and demonstrated team player with excellent interpersonal, negotiation, listening, and management skills; ability to successfully interact with people at all levels of the organization and counsel, influence, and inspire
Proven project management ability, including managing the conceptualization and execution of multiple large, complex projects
Strong, well-rounded communication skills including writing/editing, project management, media relations, and thought leadership
Ability to exercise judgment in solving technical, operational, and organizational challenges in the context of the organization's objectives and priorities
Experience as a supervisor with proven ability to coach staff for optimal results in a positive working environment with experience managing remote teams
