Job Title: Harvesting and Transport Mechanic
Location: Ore Road, Ondo

Overall Responsibilities of Role
The main responsibilities of the Harvesting and Transport Mechanic are the maintenance of the Company’s harvesting equipment and support vehicles and ensure that all are managed according to a preventative maintenance schedule to achieve maximum uptimes.
The day-to-day duties include diagnosing faults, adjusting, repairing, and replacing worn and damaged mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical parts on skidders, log loaders, trucks, tractors, other heavy equipment and support vehicles.
Key Accountabilities
Plan, coordinate and perform preventative maintenance and services according to OEM (original equipment manufacturer) specifications
Manage daily vehicle and equipment inspection sheets and breakdown reports
Attend to all breakdowns as soon as possible to maintain a minimum of 85% uptime (availability) of the harvesting equipment
Prioritise, coordinate and repair according to vehicle and equipment type, to limit downtime
Liaise closely with the Harvesting Manager to ensure appropriate service schedules for vehicles and machinery are planned in such a way as to minimize production loss
Perform machine condition assessments
Conduct fault finding and troubleshooting on equipment and vehicles
Correct vehicle and equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units
Gather information and discuss with technical staff of OEM during major breakdowns
Plan preventative maintenance work during shutdown period to ensure machine uptime for the new year
Keep detailed records of all interventions per machine including costs
Contain costs by using warranty facilities and evaluating service and parts options
Keep supplies of critical parts, oils and other essentials ready by inventorying stock, placing orders and verifying receipt
Train drivers, operators and mechanics and manage them for maximum productivity
Conduct planned job observations to ensure correct application of vehicles, equipment and plant.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree / HND qualification
Qualified Artisan: Diesel and/ or Petrol Mechanic Trade Test
Minimum of 3 years relevant experience with heavy duty equipment
Knowledge of harvesting equipment will be advantageous
Auto electrical experience and hydraulic experience will be an added advantage
Valid driver’s licence
Experience in operating various heavy equipment such as bulldozers, front-end loaders etc.
