West African Soy Industries Limited (WASIL) operates one of the largest specialized oils and fats processing complexes in Africa. The manufacturing facility is located in Sagamu, Ogun State, Nigeria, with raw materials sourced from farmers in Kaduna, Katsina, Niger and other states across Nigeria.
The Company is active in the Soy value chain through its out-grower farming activities by providing high quality agri-inputs to farmers and procuring farm produce from them through off-take arrangements. We educate the farmers on Yield Enhancement Techniques (YET) to improve their crop yield, and train women on best practices in Shea collection and primary processing.

Job Title: HSE Officer

Job Description
Coordinate risk assessment and job hazard analysis.
Assist to carry out environmental impact and aspect studies
Assist to perform safety audits and inspect facilities, machinery, and equipment to identify and correct potential hazards
Maintain HSE statistics
Write reports detailing HSE Performance within the assigned area
Design and supervise the implementation of safe work procedures and TGI group HSE standards such as confined space, permit to work procedures among others.
Enforce TGI group HSE standards across the team within his assigned business unit
Assist the Site HSE Lead in organizing and facilitating HSE training and meetings.
Conduct drills such as fire drills to ensure equipment is properly functioning, staffs and vessel crew members are aware of what to do in an emergency.
Assist to facilitate safety toolbox meetings, conducting inductions, and assist the Site HSE Lead to facilitate safety awareness training.
Assist the site HSE lead in providing technical advice, coaching, guidance, and mentoring to employees on safety initiatives and necessary changes.
Investigate industrial accidents, near-miss, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures and establish trends.
Coordinate responses to emergencies involving health, safety, and the environment.
Carry out a workplace inspection
Support the HSE Lead to maintain the HSE Communication structure and system, distribution of HSE specific documents to contractors.
Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the Site HSE Lead.
Support compliance to applicable requirements.
Monitor, Enforce and evaluate the compliance level of contractors and subcontractors to TGI group HSE Management System
Assist the Site HSE Lead to Implement an established integrated pest management system.
Ensure data are used or processed for the purpose set for such data and ensure absolute confidentiality while processing or using personal data. Get the consent of the data subject before collecting, processing, and using data.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences, Social Science, and Engineering.
2 - 4 years of experience
Ability to effectively learn and acquire new knowledge and skills.
Public speaking skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
Great problem-solving skills.
Good written and oral communication skills.
