Lagos Preparatory & Secondary School (LPSS) is an International School with high educational and learning standards children from 18months through to 16 years+. The school day begins at 8am with a short break around 10am and a longer lunch break just after 12pm. School closes at 2:40pm with the option of an after school club till 3:45pm. Job Summary
We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced Chemistry Teacher for its growing secondary school section
The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality chemistry education, fostering interest in science, and preparing students for examinations and future studies.
Job Responsibilities
Deliver engaging and effective chemistry lessons to students.
Create an inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, learning, and student engagement.
Administer assessments to evaluate students’ progress and understanding, providing constructive feedback to support students’ growth.
Adapt methods and materials to meet the learning needs of our diverse students, including those with varying academic abilities.
Work closely with the sectional head and colleagues to develop a comprehensive Chemistry curriculum that aligns with international standards and the school goals.
Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of the school’s science curriculum.
Implement the school’s learning policy and ensure the procedures for assessing, recording, and reporting students’ progress are maintained.
Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians to keep them informed of student progress and any concerns.
Safeguard and protect the welfare of children and every young person.
Participate in continuous professional development programs to stay current with best practices in chemistry education.
Ensure all teaching practices comply with school policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
Attend PTC and all sectional and general staff meetings.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry and a Master’s Degree in Chemistry Education will be an added advantage.
IGSCE Certified or equivalent certification.
Registration with theTeachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) is an added advantage.
At a minimum of 4 years of teaching experience in the secondary section of an international school that uses the British curriculum.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with students of diverse backgrounds and learning abilities.
Strong classroom management skills
Passion for education and commitment to professional development and growth.
Proficient in integrating technology in the classroom
Able to resume at school (Ikoyi) by 7:30 am.
