About the Project
Project: Validating Insights and Capturing Media for Vaginal Insertable Products in Lagos and Kano States, Nigeria
The Design for Health Practice at CcHUB is working on a project focused on investigating the use and perceptions of contraceptive products among women of reproductive age in Lagos and Kano states, Nigeria.
Specifically, the project aims to; validate existing insights on vaginal insertable products in Nigeria; gather additional data on user needs, preferences, and challenges; collect multimedia content (audio recordings and photos) to enhance storytelling and refine insights and tag data on a designated platform for use in future storytelling.
Job Purpose
The Data Transcriber will play a crucial role in the research phase of the project by ensuring the accurate transcription, tagging, and organization of data collected through interviews, focus group discussions, and multimedia recordings.
This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to confidentiality and data integrity.
Duties and Responsibilities
Data Transcription:
Accurately transcribe audio recordings of interviews, focus group discussions, and other field data into written text.
Ensure all transcriptions are complete, error-free, and formatted according to project guidelines.
Data Tagging and Organization:
Tag transcribed content with relevant metadata to enable easy categorization and retrieval.
Input data into designated platforms or databases with proper labelling.
Quality Assurance:
Review and cross-check transcriptions to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Flag and resolve discrepancies in data with the research team.
Confidentiality and Data Security:
Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive participant information.
Adhere to the project’s data protection and privacy policies.
Collaboration:
Work closely with researchers and the multimedia team to understand project requirements.
Provide support in refining data outputs for storytelling and insights development.
Requirements
Educational Qualification:
Minimum of a Diploma or Degree in Public Health, Linguistics, Communications, Social Sciences, or related fields.
Experience:
Prior experience in transcription, data entry, or related tasks.
Familiarity with transcription tools and software is a plus.
Skills:
Excellent listening and typing skills with high accuracy.
Proficiency in English and at least one major Nigerian language (Hausa preferred for Kano-based roles).
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Familiarity with tagging and metadata systems is an advantage.
